On another note, I'm super excited to see Peraza play a whole year, he's had a great year to this point. If Billy Hamilton can improve his BA, having those two at the top of the lineup would be terrifying for other teams.

I'm still not sure that they will be much improved next year, but I certainly think that they will be much more fun to watch! Hamilton, Peraza, and Votto at the top of the order will give Duvall and Phillips a ton of RBI chances next year. Even Peraza or Hamilton lower in the order would be dynamite, pending if they hold on to Cozart in the offseason. The pitching still has a ways to go, Bailey can't stay healthy and I'm not convinced by Straily's year. DeScalfani looks like he'll be a solid 2-3 man and if you have 5 solid 2-3's, you're going to have a great year. The bullpen still needs a ton of help, but some minor moves could improve it in a hurry.Chieftain2009 wrote:On another note, I'm super excited to see Peraza play a whole year, he's had a great year to this point. The only team that I see not improving next year is the Pirates, but they could make a couple of shrewd moves like they normally do and that could even help. Possibly trading Cutch to open an OF spot for Austin Meadows could be something to look for. I'd understand not trading a cornerstone of the franchise though. The Brewers offense will be much improved and even if they pull the Braun for Puig trade, I think they will be a more complete team. The Cardinals will get better years out of Pham, Grichik, and Wong, but I'm not sure if their staff will figure things out. The Cubs will be unreal for at least next season (and likely after, but pitching?) as they still have Arrieta and Lackey for one more year and could bring back Hammel if they pick up his option. Chapman is likely gone, but it's not like Rondon is a pushover as a closer.

Cincy brass is committed only to cash flow (MLB TV contract minus low salary), not winning. Get used to a .500 season being a banner year. Cincy has assumed the mantle of Cleveland: First in war, first in peace, and last in the NL Central.

The team salary isn't even that low (3rd in division) lol, it's just called rebuilding and it doesn't happen in 1-2 years for a small market team.
Like bighead said, the right group will come. They aren't that far off from being a competitive team, it just doesn't help that they are in a loaded division right now and imagine if the Astros were still in it?!
