Minford 2009
Re: Minford 2009
I heard the skill positions looked very good, I also heard the line looked suspect (at the scrimmage)...any results?

I was there. I thought the Minford first teamers looked very good for the 3d day of hitting on the O and D line.

I heard from a former player's dad that the high school got three new transplants that moved in to the Minford district. He didn't say where they came from but they are playing football and looked to be good in practice with the team. Anyone else hear this?

I could have swore I saw Charley Manson yesterday in Wellston. I walked up to him and ask him where he was going and he said MuleTown ,,,,maybe he is the source.

I heard 4 all-state players (RB, LB, QB, and OT) from Grove City moved in today and that 12 more are coming tomorrow from around the State as they cannot wait to live the glamourous life in Scioto County.

No football fans, no drama to unfold this year...no secret weapons.....just Muletown's finest getting ready to play football.

Re: Minford 2009
So could someone explain to me how a person is allowed to comment on a coach "keeping his hands to himself" on this "public" thread, but yet another individual is not allowed to express:
"Minford Football Sucks"?
openly and honestly? Nice moderation admins.............

Re: Minford 2009
Minford now knows what they need to work on the most, SECONDARY needs alot of work. Corners are playing peekaboo way too long then turning to catch up. Both lines were pretty solid. QB still a little rusty. Running game was very good as usual.

Re: Minford 2009
i hope they spend alot of time working on tackling and pass coverage. QB very rusty but should be fine. They ran the ball well.
defense was a very sore spot today

Minford has a fine team and should compete for a playoff spot this year. Good luck this year.

We knew coming into this year that Defense was going to have to have slots filled from last years Seniors. Big shoes, Big E Hockett, Seth Howard, and Mr Crabtree, just to name a few.
Our QB will be fine. He is just getting out of the baseball mode, into the football mode. by week 2, he will be on target. We used several different people in several different positions. Just looking for a good fit. (ps , also like were going to show the scouts that were there what we are running thie year lol )
What is that old song, oh yea "i will get by"

Re: Minford 2009
I did not see the Rock Hill scrimmage, but I did see the Portsmouth Minford scrimmage. I thought Minford looked good except for two breakdowns on pass coverage. On the one Minford's corner had good coverage but the Portsmouth receiver made an excellent play. On the other, a backup Minford corner let his man deep for an easy TD. You would expect Portsmouth to be able to throw and pass block and they can. All in all on defense Minford was great against the run, and Ok against the pass. On offense, minford ran very well and got consistent yardage. The line blocked well. In pass game, the QB threw one interception and had three passes dropped one for a TD. There were a couple of handling the ball fumbles. Minford looks to have a good kicker again. I'd think that that both coaches were overall happy but have plenty of things to work on. The Minford line really got off of the ball on most plays. I'd say on their schedule Portsmouth is 6-4 plus or minus. Minford looks to me like it will have another play off season. To be better than 6-4 Portsmouth will have to beat West or Burg. You can see Portsmouth beating Gallia, Jackson, South Point, Warren, Marietta and then picking up two more. I don't see them beating Chillicothe or Ironton. Portsmouth should beat Western Brown. Bottom line a good scrimmage for both teams.
