Re: D4 - R15: (3) Heath vs. (2) Ironton @ Nelsonville York
Carmen.... Ihs and ashland is a huge rivalalry. Flu and injury raised it's head. Ironton had mental turnover mistakes, and should have won. We were handling Logan still half healed with the flu. We still had play makers having to tip toe around the whole logan game, and lost in the last five minutes.. The lines are stellar. The quarterback, tricky, the backs, choose one, and the haunt of post season, and a five game season, is what Ironton lacks. Passing to keep opponents honest needs to improve to go all the way or win tonight..... Heath is proving they are tough..Ironton leads, but it's close. Anything can happen. coshocton leads creek.. I think Coshocton will win that one. doesnt matter to me as long as I town moves on without injury.. gotigershgo!!! get the ball, get the ball, get the ball, get the ball, get the ball.!!! That is your opinion and that is my explanation..... the fracking flu, turnovers, and some bad calls...since that loss and against the last five minute loss at handling logan, we have rocked on.. hope to continue for this second half... BUT heath is for real....

What a game!
How many were in attendance at this one?
Hopefully this was a profitable weekend for the NY Boosters as we continue to raise money for our rennovations!

WOOOWW what a game! I for one thought Ironton had a good chance to roll in this one, but Heath was a very impressive team. They were fast, and pretty well balanced. I was afraid when Ironton went for it on 4th down instead of taking the FG with 3 minutes to play it would cost them the game, but the D stepped up huge and they caught a break with the missed Heath FG. That run by #37 in OT was a thing of beauty - nobody was gonna deny him! Great win Tigers!

Re: D4 - R15: (3) Heath vs. (2) Ironton @ Nelsonville York
Just got home from the game and although Heath lost, I was proud of the game that they played. I thought that the Ironton players showed a lot of class throughout the whole game....which is a tribute to their coach and community. Talked to a few Ironton parents after the game and they were definetly relieved to get the win but were very humble.
I would really like to see the Tigers finish the job the year. They run that offense very fluid ....and it's very deceiving on who the ball carrier was ...I was fooled on several occassions. Good Luck against the Redskins!!
Let me add....the facilities were great ....and Nelsonville did a great job hosting.

Re: D4 - R15: (3) Heath vs. (2) Ironton @ Nelsonville York
I couldn't be any prouder of the Heath boys then I am right now. Nobody gave them much of a chance, and they took Ironton to the very wire, and even had a very good chance to win it with a 25 yard field goal with 5 seconds left. I am impressed with the play from both teams. No personal fouls, and both teams were helping each other up after many plays. VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE GAME AGAINST ZANE TRACE! But that goes to show you how much of an impact a great coach/community has on these young men. Heath has no reason to hang their heads. Both teams played well enough to win, and hey, somebody had to lose. Now go take care of Coshocton! Then on to state. Good luck Ironton!

Re: D4 - R15: (3) Heath vs. (2) Ironton @ Nelsonville York
I am working on a game report for this one butwanted to say Heath proved me wrong tonught. When Ironton hit them they stodd toe to toe with them and played hard nosed the entire game.
As I set on the Ironton side with a big group of my Ironton friends I thought wow the Heath faithful are loud, very loud. They actually reminded me of the great fans over at Licking Valley.
I am sure the great people who put the Ironton web site out will have a lot of great things on it from this game.
The kicking game killed the Bulldogs tonight.
Ironton ran the ball all night long. I think they might have had one forward pass. If not for a fumble and a untimely penalty they very easily could have had 14 more points.

It was a good crowd, there were more people Friday than Saturday which suprised me. The band boosters did good but none or very little of the money will go to renovations. If you'd like to PM me I can tell you about that. I mentioned on an earlier post that NY got a share of the ticket sales and I have found out that is not true, NY received NO money for ticket sales. But both crowds were great. Heath's was crazy loud. And there were no seating problems at all. I saw quite a few empty seats on both sides.

Nelsonville did a great job with things tonight. I can not wait to go back there next season when they host Newark Catholic.

Glad you finally made it down. NY couldn't have asked for two better playoff games. Last night's was a heartbreaker and tonight's was pretty darn exciting. I think NY and Nelsonville should be proud for what all the VOLUNTEERS were able to pull off this weekend. One playoff game is huge but two in the same weekend is pretty darn amazing!!! I've even seen some of the posters that were initially concerned about the facility now wanting to come back to NY next week but a regional final would be difficult to get at NY though I am sure we could pull that one off too.

Re: D4 - R15: (3) Heath vs. (2) Ironton @ Nelsonville York
Ironton had enough big plays on both sides of the ball to win the game in OT vs. Heath.
I think the Gresham youngster (#25) for Heath was hurt late in regulation and couldn't
run or cut as well as he had earlier in the game. He fell down fielding Ironton's last punt
in regulation and was smothered on a sweep left in OT (Ironton's defense had a bit to
do with that, too). Eschewing the late field goal try by Ironton after matriculating
the ball from their own five yard line to the Heath ten loomed large until...
Two plays stick out from the game: Heath's place kicker pulling the ball left on
the last second field goal try in regulation, which would have been a real "stick
in the eye" way to end Ironton's season and Ironton's Wetzel finishing off Heath
on the Tigers only play from scrimmage offensively in overtime, the twenty yard
cutback dash for the winning score, which suddenly and rather cruelly, ended Heath's
season. The end zone interception by Ironton of Heath's half back option pass
was a nice exclamation point to the defensive effort by the Fighting Tigers.
Thanks to both teams for an entertaining game. Ironton wins and advances to
play another week. Nelsonville-York had a fine facility, although seating was
at a premium for the big crowd on both sides of the field. Great atmosphere.

Re: D4 - R15: (3) Heath vs. (2) Ironton @ Nelsonville York
Heath returns a boat load next season. They will have 7 starters back on offense and 10 back on defense. The only 2 players to go both ways (full time) for the Bulldogs will be back, so the Bulldogs will return 15 players that started last night. Gresham will be hard to replace but freshman Donyell Simpson, who had over 600 yds will get first crack. He's of the same mold as Gresham .... just needs to get the full time reps. With the QB, FB and both wideouts back alon with a very talented sophomore class....maybe we could see another rematch, it would be fun. For the rest of this season I will root for the Tigers....they have great fans and a classy program.
NCF, off the top of your head who in the league will be the teams to beat? LV...NC...Heath...Granville?? I can't wait for next season.

Good job Tigers! Way to pull out the win! This game was a lot closer than I thought it would be. Gotta give credit to Heath for giving the Tigers all they wanted and then some.
Re: D4 - R15: (3) Heath vs. (2) Ironton @ Nelsonville York
I'm guessing the Regional Championship game will be in......drum roll please........Lancaster!!!
Athens would be perfect, as far as travel is concerned, but OU has a 2pm game on the 21st.
Zanesville would be just TOO unfair for the Ironton faithful (even for the OHSAA)!
Nelsonville is probably just a little too small for this game sooooo
lets all get ready for a trip to the friendly confines of Fulton Field in Lancaster!!!
Hey, at least were still playing huh?
Hey, now that I think about it, Ironton once played Coshocton in Groveport, so thats a possibility also!

Without pulling out the preview from last season I give the early nod to Heath. Still early and a lot of things can change but as of now Heath should be the team to watch.
