J W I'm with ya man but if I'm the #2 seed who would you want in the 4 hole ? It's like pick your poison ! #1 thru #4 on any given night !

Exactly! That's why I think it would come down to match-ups/strengths vs weaknesses. Plus, there a couple of teams that will be seeded outside of the top 4 that are capable of pulling an upset on any given night. I'd hate to win 17/18 games only to be "rewarded" with a match-up with a Tom Barrick or Norm Persin coached team in the Sectionals. That's what makes this Sectional so exciting. I'm anxious to watch how it all unfolds!

#1-#4 won't matter until the district finals

Exactly! And, considering 1-4 all have aspirations of winning a District Title, I think it stands to reason the entire District bracket and many possibilities will factor into Sectional Seeding. It wouldn't be the first time teams have tried to position themselves based on more than just their initial Sectional bracket. Then again, I'm just a guy with an opinion. I'm wrong more than my share....just ask my wife

This should be a great sectional. I will be at all the games if possible. And yes I WILL pay the $2 parking each night.

Yes, we sure have. What a reward for the 3-seed, getting the winner of that game. And, I'm with Out Of Bounds, I'll take the under on that one as well!!

If Portsmouth gets the #2 seed, the Trojans may have the toughest road to win the regional.........providing they win the sectional and the district semifinal, PHS would then have to play Valley in the district final, Chesapeake in the regional semfinal, then Ironton in the regional final. Of course if Valley gets the #4 seed, they would have an equally tough road to the state.

Chesapeake would have to play Valley/ Portsmouth in the regional semifinal, and then Ironton in the regional final..........Ironton would have the best path, having only to play Portsmouth/Chesapeake/Valley in the regional final. The Fighting Tigers would avoid having to play any of those 3 before the regional final, but IHS would have to play the East District winner (Coshocton?) in the regional semifinal.

The last 2 years has produced an all Jackson sectional in the regional finals........Chesapeake/Ironton, Chesapeake/Portsmouth.........will form hold true and produce a 3rd straight year of Jackson dominance, or will a team from another sectional pull off an upset along the way?

Trojan Dave so under you're scenario Chessy #1 Ports #2 Itown #3 and Valley #4 and you say the #3 seed will have the easiest route to the Regional final ?

N B Heat: If the seeds hold to that form, then yes, Ironton, would have most likely the easiest path to the regional final.......because, they would have to play only 1 of those schools (Chesapeake, Portsmouth, or Valley), and that game would be in the regional final.

Chesapeake would have to play two teams, while Portsmouth and Valley would have to play the other 3 teams.

The consensus opinion on this thread is that the Jackson sectional has the top 4 teams in SE D3, despite being in the same sectional.

The other sectionals are not nearly as strong ON PAPER as the Jackson sectional, but of course form doesn't always hold true in the tournament........upsets happen, and a good team can have an off night.

Believe me, as a Trojan fan, nothing is a given for us..........Valley beat us 63-62 in the Jackson sectional two years ago, while last year at JHS we escaped with a 65-64 win over South Point, surviving a last second 3 point shot miss.
