I have never understood that comment. The only sense I can make of it is maybe if they were playing different teams they would be winning more. Now if he said, they have better players than their record indicates, I could buy it. But a team obviously is a group of players and coaches. When they lose it is usually because of some or all of those. But to say they are a better team than thier record tells me you are thinking they are better than the teams they are losing to. I can see when a team loses one game people saying the better team lost. But not 6 or 12 times a season. That just doesn't happen. A team that loses more than they win is not a good team compared to their opponents. Like I said, they may have better players, or not, but they are not a better team than their record. If they were their record would be better. So again if you mean they would be better against other, lesser opponents I can see what you are saying.
Don't know who it is on first, but if he plays for Eastern I bet you will say his team is better than their record.

I think you know what I meant when I said a team was better than their record and I feel certain that you have made similar comments more than once. You can wear a hole in a rock with it if you want though.
