Logan Football
Re: Logan Football
The boys that are in the 10th and 11th haven't lost too many games from southeast of Lancaster.
Re: Logan Football
BTW, what has been the record of the Frosh the last two years and the JVs as well ?
Re: Logan Football
I notice that last Friday night at N-Y although they show a little life in the 3rd qt, Like i have said b-4 It is the way the Chiefs are losing. As Jimmy V said when he was fighting for his life "never ever give up" If the current starters give up replace with another player. Quiting is not an opinion!1987chieftains wrote:YES... giving up.... the lancaster game they didnt give up now they have given up.... too early in the game maybe not all the players but some do. look at the Michigan/ND game Michigan down big early, didnt give up and they won! maybe thats not the best but you guys know what i mean.noreply66 wrote:Most Logan people that are complaining about this team, isn't that that are get a L, it is the way they are getting it.NYBuckeye96 wrote:I'm surprised no one has brought up the team records of the schools that have beat Logan so far. It's not like Logan is 0-5 and being blown out by bad teams. All five schools Logan has played so far have been really great teams, with three of them undefeated.
I am not familiar with the records of the lower level teams Logan plays at all grade levels, but at least at the varsity level, Logan has played really dominating teams so far.
If the entire program is down top to bottom, I think you have to make corrections at the lowest levels first and then build off of that each year in the upper levels.

Re: Logan Football
I am just shocked that playing this tougher strength of schedule hasn't made these players better prepared to win some games! Love to see when a program faces adversity. Lets you see who really supports the program, and who is just looking to lay blame. After seeing some of Logan's Jr high teams the last couple of years, it isn't hard to figure out why they are struggling some.... A DROP IN TALENTED ATHLETES is a big factor!
Re: Logan Football
When I was in the eight grade we were terrible and the class a head of us didn't do that great and the Jv wasn't too much to talk about either.
In the 9th grade we did about the same and the JV was looking up.The varsity started out great but slowed down the last third of the year. As a 10th grader the varsity did very well with the line up having several 10th and 11th graders. As a Jr we may been part of the best team at Logan. Then my Sr year we were right there until the end.
Wasn't much in the 8th and 9th but Mel Adams coached the heck out of them once they were soph.

Re: Logan Football
I know one thing I wouldn't want to coach this team with some of the shenanigans and attitudes some of these players have shown according to my underground sources,,I agree with the post that discipline starts at home and somewhere in the past that got lost,in some ways kids have it a little too easy now days,I know Kelly and he knows his football, but he is a nice guy maybe too nice for his own good for these kids and they are taking advantage of it....

Re: Logan Football
I'm looking at http://www.gahssports.com where Jottings has compiled SEOAL standings from the league's inception.
Looking at the 1990s, here is how Logan fared in the SEOAL:
1990 -- 2-3
1991 -- 4-1
1992 -- 4-1
1993 -- 4-1
1994 -- 6-0
1995 -- 1-5
1996 -- 2-5
1997 -- 4-3
1998 -- 6-1
1999 -- 7-0
We all know that programs run in cycles, up and down at various stages. What Logan is experiencing currently may be the down trend in its cycle. As Logan posters have stated, there may be many contributing factors: lack of talent at this time; lack of discipline; lack of self-motivation on the part of the players; issues with the coaching staff; etc.
If I'm not mistaken, the current coaching staff is comprised of guys that Dale Amyx hired. Again, I'm no expert on LHS football, but I think most if not all of the current staff members were on Dale's staff. BTW, how long has Kelly Wolfe been the head coach? 2 or 3 years?

I looked up some old threads and found the reserves were 4-4 last year,, frosh were 7-2,,, two years ago the reserves were 4-1, could'nt find anything on that years frosh, but if memory serves me right don't think they had anymore than 3 losses
Re: Logan Football
I think most of those Ls are against teams outside the league.Gallipolis might have a W in there somwhere.C-Bolt wrote:Paladin_II wrote:BTW, what has been the record of the Frosh the last two years and the JVs as well ?

Re: Logan Football
Thats the general idea I had............ that the current players won at lower levels. How do you win at lower levels and not win at the varsity level ? Disturbing.
Re: Logan Football
From what I'm hearing its not just the QB causing problems, also the reserve success from 2 years ago could be attributed to the fact they had a lot of juniors playing that year because the class ahead of them was loaded with senior starters so that class would be gone this year. The current Junior and sophomore classes has had decent success in the lower levels although freshman coming up are struggling big time....
Re: Logan Football
I have gone to all the freshman games and it seems like they are making the same mistakes that the varsity is doing.
The freshman will hold the other team and then on 3rd down and even a lot of 4th they give up the big play. Too many receivers are letting their man get by them also they are giving up big yards on the reverse.
I have been to all three levels and it is the same thing on defense.
#61 on the freshman team seems to be running everywhere. On defense I would try him at MLB. The other teams they have gone up against have LBers his size but not the speed. Surely they have another to play on the line to allow the move.

Re: Logan Football
That is exactly the problem with most sports today. People say the exact same thing then blame the coaches, players etc.Paladin_II wrote:Thats the general idea I had............ that the current players won at lower levels. Let's see, as freshman you play against freshman, as jr high you play jr high. Now varsity you play against anyone good enough to play that is in grades 9-12. You don't always play against the same people. The freshman team you best by four TD's may not have had their tail back because he had 3 TDs on friday night. Many other factors go int play also. Did the coach sacrifice the needed fundamentals and growth just to win games. I mean you read it every day about the undefeated freshman team and they are talked about at booster meetings and board meetings (ha ha).
Get over the "they won at lower levels so they should win here" mentality.
Maybe the other teams you play this year are just better than you. Wait I know, it must be someones fault, not me or my kids

Have you?? Here's what I think.....
You havent been to game ONE of this season's contests. But yet you read the Logan Daily, get on here, see the results of the lower levels and whats going on with the Varsity and then decide youre bored, so youll stir up some stuff. I see a trend. You did the same thing during the 2009-10 basketball season, you did it last year with football and now and youre even in the baseball forums bragging about how youre going to fix the football issues with the same "committee" you claim to have behind you that nobody around town seems to know anything about. Funny, Logan is a small town, and you would think a group of big wigs meeting at LJs each week at 6am would bring some notice, but nobody seems to know anything about it.....So as it stands, you ve been in NO LESS than 3 forums complaining about coaches, programs, staffs and how it needs fixed. But yet I never hear about you at a school board meeting, an athletic booster meeting or even any of the games of the teams you complain about. You dont have the stones to even go to one of the coaches you gripe about to tell them what you think, complain that they need to bring back Amyx and his staff, when all in all this is the same staff that was under him. So really, is it coaching or is it something else? My guess is its something else, and truth be told, that something else needs to get out more, join a bingo league or take up quilting.
Re: Logan Football
Don't have to. I have seen this excuse for over the last 15 years. I guess if people actually knew what they were talking about then they wouldn't make those comments.moonshine wrote:Have you wittness the problem in person?pitt87fan wrote:That is exactly the problem with most sports today. Re: Logan Football
I was at the N-Y game this pass Friday night. futhermore plaese double check your facts. What I wittness was a disgrace when a player is disrespectful to a coach it time to correct the problem, again I will not rehash the same mistakes which is happening with our progam. We know the problems and the staff must correct them or we our looking at a 0-10 season
