Coal Grove Boys Tourney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Coal Grove Boys Tourney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow bringing up a comment from two months ago? Anyway.....What I mean is that when teams try intentionally to put the weaker teams in the bracket with the home team so that the home team has a cake walk into the finals.
It is not just Coal Grove by any means. South Point and really all the 6th grade tourneys try to do the same thing. I just think it should be a blind draft just like for Little League. If your team is good enough they will make it to the finals. Don't try to make the brackets suit your needs. Do it fair!

I think that this is what is wrong with youth sports today. Parents or people crying fair, fair, fair. Life isn't fiar. Little League is a National organization. Of course they just have a blind pick because there are far too many teams to be seated and this is the easiest and quickest thing to do. The local basketball tournaments, ran by the local teams to make money for the local organization aren't set to any rules. Do everything that you can to keep your team in as long as you can and make as much money as you can. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
As far as fair, fair, fair goes. Life isn't fair. You have got to make your own breaks in life and work hard to give yourself every advantage to succeed.
Youth sports need to be teaching the kids to win. Teach them to take pride in winning. Teach them to lose with dignity. Teach them that when they do lose, to keep there heads up and use it for fuel to win the next time. Teach them good sportsmanship. That they should never make excuses for when they do lose and to congratulate their opponets all the same, and not to boast about it when they win. Just my 2 cents.
