Do you have something against Perry County? It is a great place. My roots are there. My family lived and died in those cool mines for generations.cats wrote: just cause they are from perry co dont be fooled great football program up in thornville but i forgot they havent played wahama yet so the are just mediocre

I always heard you have to take out the champ to be the champ and I believe that is what Wahama did this past football season and will continue to do the majority of the time

I don't know what the crazy talk is about in some of the above posts about Sheridan but being a graduate of Wahama and being around the Sheridan program and Coach Culver on the sidelines a few times in the past few years, it is a whole different ballgame these two teams play. Wahama would not, could not and should not hold there own against a perennial playoff team like Sheridan but you also must understand that this would be an Ohio DIII team playing a WV/OH DVI. There are very few DVI teams in Ohio that can play and usually be competitive with DIII teams during the year (Delphos St. John, Newark Catholic and Marion Local are the best of the few that come to mind). With that being said, Wahama and Trimble will again finish at the top of the Hocking next year.

The team that beat you in the state finals, was beaten by one or two teams from the state of Ohio. One of those teams was beaten 77-6.Be happy with TVC Hocking title and don't compare W.Va. football with Ohio football.

OK, let me type this slow so maybe you will understand. I never professed WV football to be anything other than what it is. However, some posters can't accept the fact we won the league this year. They use excuses like:gobucks31 wrote:The team that beat you in the state finals, was beaten by one or two teams from the state of Ohio. One of those teams was beaten 77-6.Be happy with TVC Hocking title and don't compare W.Va. football with Ohio football.
1. Well, the Hocking division was down this year.
2. Well, single A football in WV is down this year.
3. Well, our coaches aren't very good.
4. Well, if we played Wahama later in the year we would have beat them.....
I am simply defending the fact that we have a good single A program. I am not accepting anyones excuses for why they couldnt beat us just as I will offer no excuses when they beat us someday. (Actually, I will prolly start a thread and recycle all their excuses for a laugh.....). If I were you, I would work on keeping my program together. Sounds like it's coming apart at the seams. Maybe you can borrow some of these excuses when your team falls below expectations.

Titletown, not putting you down in any way.Wahama had a very good team this year.Southeastern OHIO football is the same as W.Va. football.BUT the rest of the state laughs at SEO football.Like I said, one of the better programs in SEO,got beat 77-6 in state playoffs and they beat the team that beat you.JUST SAYING.

No arguing that the Ohio state champion in Division VI is leaps and bounds over the the rest of Division VI football. However, Shadyside did make the Ohio state championship game, cruising through their 1st 4 games and winning by no less than 2 touchdowns in each of those.
11/05 H Trimble 7-4 Tri-Valley II W 36-20
11/12 H Malvern 8-4 Inter-Valley W 41-20
11/19 H Bridgeport 12-1 Ohio Valley Ohio Valley A W 28-0
11/26 H Mogadore 13-1 Portage Trail Portage Trail - Metro W 28-13
12/03 H St. John's 15-0 Midland Athletic 87.79 87.99 L 6-77
Shadyside beat Wheeling Central (WV Champion) by 5 points (26-21). Wheeling Central was without their star running back Marcus Clifford.
(see article: http://wboytv.com/story.cfm?func=viewst ... &catid=126). Marcus Clifford is a game changer. With him, they could have potentially beat ShadySide.
If you look up Wahama's schedule and results, it is interesting to see that they also defeated Trimble. They beat them by 8. Shadyside beat them by 16. Would Wahama make the Ohio state championship? Maybe not. But something tells me they would be a little more competitive than what some people give them credit for.

overall its logic. WV football is nowhere near the competitive level of football in Ohio

Ohio over 480 high schools, West Virginia about 140 high schools. Ohio over 11 million people, West Virginia 3 million people. I think there could be something there.

That is why they voted against us getting in. We will out work them, and get them out of their comfort zone of easily winning the TVC year in and year out. Honestly, we were shocked how easy it was to win the Hocking Division this year. I really thought the teams would be better, and I look for us to join a new league in a few years just to get some competition. Maybe join the Ohio Division, but of course I am sure those teams like NY will vote no since they wont want to play us either.
Why would they? beating a single A school in WV does not benifit D5 school in ohio, and i highly doubt wahama could ball in the TVC Ohio. Its a little bit different than the Hocking division
