Oh don't worry ... I'm sure pfloyd's I-Town Maffia connections already have him a seat lined up courtside ... he's probably sitting around the pool right now with Tiger Town Turkey, smoking Cuban Cigars - and laughing at all us dummies being tortured by the snow and cold up here in the north.

I remember back just a little ways to the end of football season. You know 93 bulldog, when the Bulldogs were 10-0 and heading to the playoffs. Many of us Warren fans just rooted for the southeast team, Athens, to win games at that point, even traveling to watch. So Athens would make a logical choice for the top spot in any DII ranking and overall ranking for football, due to depth of returning players. And one fact that can't be denied Athens went further than anyone else and returns many key players. So lets look at B-Ball. Warren with returning depth would make the LOGICAL choice for the top spot in any DII ranking and overall ranking, for B-Ball, due to depth of returning players. And logically thinking Athens would be number two,(discounting New Philly, since they are not technically from our part of the state) based on returning depth. And Warren went further than anyone else from the Southeast and returns many key players. All I am saying is Pfloyds anaiysis for next winter, as usual is spot-on. All the talk, any and all posturing is moot at this point. The proof will not manifest its-self until after football season. Sooooooo, Thanks pfloyd, I may not always agree with your picks, but will not even think of saying anything about your ability to size up our part of the state, you put in the time and effort to study, follow all the schools and I look forward to reading your break downs. Warren, Athens, New Philly (with their returning talent pool, no senior starters this season, I believe), seems to me to be destined for a collision at the Convo, wow great B-Ball next Feburary. And lest we forget, others in DII will make some noise and believe they too have as good a shot as anyone else. I am done rambling and can't wait for August and football.

returning depth.

New Philly returns every single player ... so technically they have the most returning.
Athens best five were the five on the court in OT vs Warren ... all five players are freshmen & soph's.
Warren losses its center (Leffingwell, who had a great game against Athens), its PG, who hit the winning shot against new Philly ... and Danny Pannell, who I thought was a great player and would have been a starter on just about any team in our area.

I really don't have a problem with Warren being #1 - they earned it ... but if you're talking about players returning and players lost - Warren will lose the most out of the three teams - that is just a fact.

Welllllll, In that case Athens lost some very important seniors from the football squad. So by using your logic or lack of logic. The Bulldogs should be below o say Jackson or Gallia just as am example. "I really don't have a problem with Warren being #1-they earned it.".... I would offer from some of your previous posts, you do have a problem with that. And the loss of Leff (who sat out last season), Pannel, and Yabs. Humm didn't Warren lose T Ward, Henthorne and Hastie last year, who played ahead of this years three, well . Nuff said on that topic. I will leave you to your opinion and I will keep mine. 93Bulldog you have a great summer now ya hear. Auburntgr signin off.

If you read enough of my posts - you would know that I just like giving Floyd a hard time (which is why it may have appeared as if I had a problem with Warren being #1)

As far as football - when you have 40 and 50 man rosters - of course you're going to lose seniors/players every year ... Jackson lost players, Athens did and so do did Gallia.

You just made my point exactly. So just because Warren loses three players on B-Ball, they are in a situation of reloading the gun, not fixing a broken one. I try to give credit where credit is due, does not matter what school, good is good, period. We may not like the truth, but hard to argue with it. Athens right now is going through a period of great athletics, period. Can't argue with that. Just a few years ago they went through a period of being middle of the road to average at best, football, basketball, wrestling, girls sports were all struggling. Warren went through this in football and has struggled to just get back to respectable. All schools go through these periods of Up & Down. Warren basketball is going through a period of basketball that is playing great, working hard loweer level team are chuck full of promising athletes. I hope that both Athens and Warren have great years next fall and they meet at the Convo.

pfloyd... I think your sleeping on Portsmouth West, they return a few key pieces including sophomore point guard Michael Davis who had over 20 off the bench including a game tieing 3 to send the sectional title game vs. Valley to overtime. Coach Bradford is getting the program going, it's took time, but I believe they are rounding the corner.

... Runner00 ... up until last season the Senators weren't even on the radar BUT Coach Bradford & Co. went to .500+ on the season, played EVERYONE tough , beat some quality ball clubs (i.e. Valley) ... I had Portsmouth West consistently moving up the Treehugger rankings or holding their own with their tough play even when picking up the "Ls" ... I HOPE the Coach Bradford keeps improving the program on the Westside! with PW's play last year the committee of one - me - has them on the radar, in the rankings with a "bullet" ... best of luck next season to the Senators ...

Seeing as Chase Fieler started out at Fed Hock - and then ended up in Parkersburg ... you could probably where the Gulf Coast shirt to those games as well, Floyd ... lol

... 93dog! ... when you were on vikingroundball podcast with Lou Horvath do you recall Lou telling the story of the origin of "Basketball Thirty"? - it being a spin on the phrase used in Vietnam by US troops "Beer Thirty" ... I was watching the History channel - American Restorations - one of the workers used the term "Beer Thirty" when referring to getting a "Kool-Aid" after work ...
