Looks like a lot of people are calling for the resurrection of the "Dutch" era. So, let me be the first to stay, bring back "Dutch," bring back "Dutch"... :D

The right guy can turn it around in Wellston. It will require a guy who wants to be there and who has thick skin. He must have a plan to implement and not be discouraged by all the nonsense with parents and politics. He has to be able the weather the storm and build trust with his team. The kids will buy in once the trust is there and the wagons are circled. It's always about making the kids, developing them as people and the wins will come.

That’s a pretty good statement above.

Yeah great statement! Easier said than done. New “people in control “ and then support . It may happen.
Not holding my breath though?

One thing you wont see a lot of from Hurtch is discipline. Pretty sure Wellston led the TVC in unsportsmanlike conduct penalties every year he was coach.

Top 10 in descending order with reasons to hire in parenthesis:

10. "Old Dutch" (Deserves another shot).
9. "Brick Walls" (His name, but you'll have to fight Logan for him now).
8. "Jesty" (Hey, don't laugh, there are some at VC who think he did a good job).
7. Jack (Experience, yea, not the one who was at VC in the 90's).
6. Phillips (anyone heard anything from him lately? Give him a ring, surely he's looking for a job).
5. Paul Blankenship (Hey, at least Coal Grove won't steal him away).
4. Downs (He's available).
3. Davey (He's available).
2. Blackstone (Proven winner).
1. O'Rourke (VC won't hire him, so he'll be sure to kick the dog shi# out of them year in and year out. Pay the man).

The fact that at least one of these names has passed away probably means the other 9 arent likely candidates.
There's a reason given for the deceased coach being named as a candidate, if you can read. And what do "the other 9..." have to do with that one?

Yea, bring back Dutch. At least he beat VC. Rumor is he's going to put Jackson back on the schedule if he gets hired. He's probably just crazy enough to do that from what I hear about him. So by all means, bring back Dutch.

The BEST thing about people from Wellston is that they have JACKSON on their license plates!

I have not heard that. Not saying that aren’t. Just don’t know if they hired someone and are announcing at next meeting or not. I’m sure someone is taking care of at least maintaining the winter weight room for the current kids ??

Deadline for applications is tomorrow February 8th. Next board meeting is Monday February 11th. So it won’t happen that soon. So as soon as they decide they’ll have a special meeting. And yes someone is now maintaining the weight room.

Now that the deadline has passed. Any leaks of who is a favorite?? Glad to hear someone is still keeping the weight program going. Ironton was in the same situation a year ago. Coming off a average below average season. Kids leaving. Ironton didn’t have a coach hired almost all the way into June. And by November coach Pendleton’s team was in the playoffs ! Impressive. Hopefully Wellston can find that same golden ticket!
