This has been a horrible game for both sides hopefully it’s just because it’s week 1

Not sure what that play call was on 4th but it had zero chance of getting a first

What a smart play by Portsmouth instead of us having a short field now we have to go almost the whole length

Portsmouth 15
Valley 12
Final

Valley being too conservative at the end in my opinion. Got to take a shot or two in the end zone and take your chances. Weird way to end a game.

Heiland is a very good player. 29 Rushes for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns.

If Valley can clean up their offensive penalties, they’ll be vastly improved. Huge difference in a year’s time.

Valley has to clean up the penalties, but that’s a far better team than they’ve had.

Didn’t understand the play calling for both teams. But more so Portsmouth. They should be in the I formation the entire game.

Lucasville Valleys play calling on that last drive was Horrendous. It was like they were playing to tie at the first 2 play calls but in the 2nd they got a false start. 3rd down play should’ve been designed to make it a make able FG. Wow it was just sooo bad. Much better display of defense for Valley though.

Portsmouths offense is too one dimensional. Better diversify against the better teams.

Hats off to both teams but all game long that scene from liar liar kept coming into my mind “I’M KICKING MY OWN ASS!” Way too many mistakes. Some very bad play calling by valley. Our lineman could not block 21 there was times he didn’t even get a finger on him. He was just too fast for him. But we never tried to get him any help. That last drive was total embarrassment. With that said valley is vastly improved from last year. Last year we gave up 60 and we was never in the game. If they can fix some things they will be a very good team by the end of the year.

Really impressed with the Portsmouth run defense. Wasn’t perfect but they really held their own against a big OL, fast QB and one of the better backs in the area. Secondary was tested, gave up some but seem vastly improved. Offense I thought could’ve been better, Heiland with a good game but play calling wasn’t great. Thought coaching had some bad moments and good moments. Bad call to not punt it on 4th and 2 and pin Valley deep. Good call to just take the safety. Portsmouth tried to give that one away. Costly fumble, costly face mask on 4th down that would’ve ended the game. Both teams have a lot to clean up, but I think both will have very good seasons. Valley kicker is really good. They definitely seem like an improved team. 8 in a row over the Indians. Congrats to the Trojans.

Portsmouth tried to give it away and valley gave it away. As someone said the play calling is one dimensional and vs better teams that will cause a problem but it’s week 1. Valley had what seemed like 47 penalties on the offensive line. And there last drive was terrible. They felt confident in a 46 yard field goal. Congrats to the Trojans and good luck valley rest of the way.

We’ve discussed the negatives, but for Valley there is a lot to take away from this game.

There is excitement in the program, a lot of kids are out for the team, you have strong Community support.

You’re only in year 3 of a totally new staff/culture.

You held what was dubbed to be an explosive offense to 15 points, while the drive wasn’t ideal you had a chance to tie or win the game.

I think the program walks away from this one dissatisfied, but encouraged for what’s to come.

Looking forward to watching the season unfold for these guys and what the next few years hold.

Can’t say enough good things about the Trojan defense last night. Not sure what McNeil ended up with, but at the half only 40 yards. Couple of nice interceptions for the secondary, kids wrapping up, pressure on the QB. Great game on defense from Kayleb Johnson, Leelind Scurlock, Kingston Littlefield, Trevin Brooks & Chase Heiland. Brooks came through the middle several times absolutely blowing up plays….granted it’s week 1, Valley offense is fast & explosive so still impressed.

Offense was okay, many people talking about it being one dimensional, they were never going to be a passing team unfortunately. I preached that I wanted more passing and we didn’t get it, and I don’t think we will. QB is too little, not strong enough arm to really throw down the field. I think they could’ve hit a few more of those short passes and screens to mix it up though. Heiland with a good game, also impressed with Poxes & Mckenzie running the ball from the up back position.

Wasn’t pretty but 1-0 is 1-0. West I assume will have a better offense and game plan, but I think the Trojans actually matchup better this year against them than last year. On to week 2.
