If the kids who live in town are not playing for GAHS, I seriously doubt it is because they dont have a ride! Do you really think the strength of the team depends solely on the kids that live in town? I assure you that all of the kids are working hard, or they wouldn't be a part of the team.

IMHO! Both schools are pretty much in the same boat talent wise and work ethic wise, Gallipolis in the past couple years has declined greatly! One reason is building the new school where it is at (Gallipolis cannot be a power unless they have the kids who live in town playing! Most of then do not have a ride to and from practice now.)
The other reason is that these kids are no longer hard workers, now they are much like RV kids, slackers and spoiled brats.

I don't see either team having an athletic advantage even though Gallipolis is a bit bigger and has more kids to chose from.
Gallia and rv are nothing alike the gallia boys have been in the weight room since the end of season last year 5 days a week and some even 6 days producing several state placers in powerlifting. Now seeing what the kids at gallia look like and then rv they can not be compared!! Gallia plays competitive teams every year. I'd like to see rv survive one quarter against ironton. With that being said before calling them spoiled brats with no work ethic get up at 6 on a Saturday morning and watch them puke and be physically pushed the limit and never give up GO BLUE!!

How do you know anything about anyone's attitude?
While your on the subject, nothing at River Valley is going to change until the parents and kids realize you just can't show up and start playing any sport at the beginning of the season. Until the kids and parents realize you have to work, lift weights, run ,play organized off season sports, simply live it. They will never be winners. Too much whining about the coaches picking on my kid,too much making excuses for why their kid missed lifting or work outs.
River Valley prob has more broken homes and single parents than any school in Southern Ohio. I think it's tough for single parents to keep kids going to required workouts and be hard on them. The kids get off too easy.
This school prob has the best coaching staffs in all sports they have had for some time, these coaches are constantly chasing kids who cut lifting or just say i don't need to play summer Basketball.

Attitude is what it all about.

Since ya'll are bashing Rv for it's schedule in football, what about Alexander's Football schedule last year??? Pot meet Kettle!

Oh how right you are and i heard 2 of those great rv coaches had their attitudes in high gear last night when they were slinging racial slurs at one of their players and parents in jackson at the basketball league. a little birdie told me
Lol that is funny! It was the parent who attacked the coaches, they actually handled it quite well. That kid is back on the team now so I really doubt there is much truth in your words and was that a mocking bird .?. Haha

with the exception of football maybe, they are just like the RV boys,oh perhaps they have dominated other teams in basketball, track or other sports we haven't heard about? yea i know it hurts and it's true at almost every school now.

6-4 competing against fairly large schools beats 1-9 against d-4 and d-5 schools any day. And I'm sorry rv hasn't heard of power lifting they could use it

Be 2-8 Against D-4,D-5
Gallipolis schedule was full of Div 4 schools Fairly large (hehehe) sure buddy!
You should get someone to read posts to you so you can comprehend them,I said with the exception of football.
I know with that Average rating that Gallipolis academics gets every year it's hard to mentally keep up with some kids from a school that gets an Excellent rating virtually every year! That's against everyone hunnie !Or is going to school only about sports?

Very few d-4 teams on our schedule. I believe ironton and vinton county are the only teams that are not at least d-3. So insult are intelligence but in g-town former devils get all the good jobs!! Haha

So RV is better because they can regurgitate questions better on a test? Look at the scholarship money for the class of 2012 for the three county schools. RV had the lowest by far. Also, what about the fact that less than 30% of the kids from RV who attend college graduate? Those scores are deceiving to say the least.

R U serious???? RV cant even beat South Gallia in a scrimmage and they think that they can play with The Blue Devils??? I think that the gap in talent is closer than its been in a while....I really dont think this would be much of a game!!! But wait a couple more years and we'll see!!! (RV SHOULD be very good)

Scholarships have to be applied for I know for a fact that the kids at RV who set the all time record in Gallia County in 2007 for scholarship money allowed, are now at a disadvantage. The guidance dept there is not nearly as aggressive or diligent at when it comes to getting kids applied for scholarships. There were several kids who never got notice in time to sign up for scholarships, also if you know anything about scholarships they are very political. You or I could go set up a scholarship for a set amount award it to a kid who never has any aspiration to go to school, what is the risk. RV at one time had more kids enroll in college than any school in the county. Also one year to the next it can drastically change. So Apples to Oranges.
I agree about the kids all being slackers now and the basketball program at GA is proof, last year Coach Hill was crucified for not winning a game in the summer league,This year they are near the top GA is winless? Most of the criticism is from folks who are clueless about the make up of a team or what it takes to get a team ready to play.
I enjoy watching them win or lose, but winning is always more fun. Relax folks I don't think a state champ is coming from Gallia County any time soon enjoy watching KIDS play.

Regarding Scholarship Cash Haul --

Many of the Gallia Academy dollars totals were based on projected four-year winnings. Some of the RV ones looked like the immediate, one-year awards.

Example -- RV's Patrick Williams' awards to go to Findlay were listed at 9.5K and 2.5K for a total of 12K. In the Gallia Academy accounting from a similar news article, that would have totalled 48k.

I believe that RV and GA will be having a 7-on-7 day here in the next couple of weeks.

RV finally got over the hump in basketball last year and beat a Gallia team that they are better than. I think it's still safe to say that Gallia is way ahead in spring sports.
