Coach Eddy and staff have done a nice job with GAHS football so far.

The Jackson game should be barn-burner, but then again, most GA vs. JAX games are.

Congrats to the Blue Devils. This was an ugly game on both sides of the ball. Neither team played game 9 football. It only showed the yo-yo effect of the SEOAL. Different friday night different looking team(s?) on the field.

Curry top GAHS defensive
player in victory over WLHS

Josh Curry, 5-10, 190-pound senior linebacker, was top Blue Devil defensive player in Friday’s 41-27 victory over host Warren Local in Friday’s SEOAL contest at Vincent.

Curry was credited with three initial hits, five solo tackles, one sack, two tackles for a loss, and two quarterback hurry-ups.

Brandon Taylor was close behind with five initial tackles, four assists, and a pass interception. Ben Saunders had one solo tackle, six assists and two tackles for losses. Dalton Jarrell had six initial hits and two pass interceptions while Austin Wilson recorded two initial hits, two assists and three pass interceptions, returning one for a touchdown.

Ethan Moore had two initial hits, four assists and a tackle for a loss. Jared Golden had one initial tackle, two assists, one quarterback hurry-up and one pass breakup. Zack Tackett had three assist tackles and two quarterback hurry-ups. Austin Gragg had one assist, one sack and three quarterback hurry-ups.

All told, GAHS had 25 solo tackles, 35 assists, six quarterback hurry-ups, one pass breakup, two sacks, five tackles for losses and six pass interceptions.

After nine games (7-2) Moore leads the team in solo tackles with 50. Taylor and Saunders are tied for second with 30 each. B. Saunders has eight tackles for losses, Tackett has nine quarterback hurry-ups, Wilson four pass breakups, Tackett five sacks and Wilson four pass interceptions. Taylor and Scott have recovered two opponents’ fumbles apiece. Guiesinger has a blocked punt.

Gallia Academy will host Jackson in the final regular season game of the season Friday at 7:30 on Memorial Field. Jackson already owns a piece of the 2010 SEOAL title, and needs a win over GAHS to be undisputed league champions. A GAHS win would give the Blue Devils a share of this year’s league title. It will be parents/senior night for the Blue Devils.

GAHS had 4 turnovers and 110 yds in penalties while Warren had 6 turnovers and 54 yards in penalties.

But championship teams have big time players show up big in big games, and the list is long of the athletes that got the job done when it counted and came home victorious.

Wilson was, well.......Wilson and that's all that needs to be said about that. Nice to see senior Jared Golden in the end zone for the first two times of his senior year after missing the first six games with a kneee injury.

Read my write up in Sunday's Gallipolis paper and see all the names mentioned and even that list if far from all-inclusive; especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Now it's home to face Jackson and more than a league chanpionship is on the line. With a win, it is projected that GAHS could get a home game in week 11 of the playoffs, and for the seniors especially, one more game on Memorial Field has to be something to be remembered; even if it is dirt between the hash marks the the 30s.

Great job Blue Devils! 7-2 and everything you have worked so hard for is still on the table. Finish what you started and keep your eyes on the prize!

Great Job BLUE!
As i stated earlier we need to look at cleaning up the penalties (Chillicothe Game was not bad Officiating),if we are to win close games or win in the playoffs we cannot have 100yds in penalties. Seems we have had several penalties most weeks.
Good Luck vs Jackson
