I've had friends waiting to work at OU for years ... its not like they bring people in - from out of the area - year after year just to work here ... I also have friends that grew up in Albany, Glouster and Nelsonville that work at OU now - and they still live in those places.

As far as coaching staffs at Ohio U ... there hasn't been a huge turnover for the Bobcats ... Athens has had a few kids that are coaches sons over the years (Lichtenberg, Gregory, Dixon, Germano, Burrow and Trae Williams) ... that is six players over the course of 22 years ... and I don't know of any dating back to the years before Lichtenberg ... it might be like 6 players over the course 25 or 30 years.

Yea, they just step right in alright.

They are going to live in Athens, huh?

JULIE ELS, her dad was an OU football coach ... she didn't lead Athens to a state championship in volleyball - she led the Alexander Spartans.

TheGreatOne Returns! -

Get over taking shots at the Athens County teams and the rest of the teams in the TVC...

It is never gonna be as good as it was in your hayday, so let it go...

The Idea that Ohio U. jobs produce players for JUST Athens is funny. Ohio U. has produced jobs for families in every Athens COUNTY school. I agree with everything 93Bulldog mentioned above. Ohio U. is just another business, where jobs change and people move in and out. Just like Rocky Boots in Nelsonville. Things change, people come and go.

The TVC being the worst league is laughable...
Come to Boston Field Friday Night and see how bad this league is.
Come see how empty the seats will be for a 2nd year in a row, with two teams playing for a League Championship and Play-Off Spot...
Come see how the communities of each school could care a less about supporting the area ball clubs and see how many people from other schools don't show up to watch this horrible game from a horrible league...

Which Title Game will have the bigger crowd?
Athens @ Nelsonville-York (TVC) or
Jackson @ Gallia Academy (SEOAL)...

The TVC could possibly have in the Play-Offs:
Athens, Nelsonville-York, Trimble, Eastern, Federal Hocking and Wahama (in WV)
Compare the other Leagues around the State, or close in proximity... (SEOAL has Gallia, Jackson needs a miracle) that is it!

Athens @ Nelsonville-York should be a great game and an even better Gate for NYHS.
The Kids have earned this great game between two good football teams, and should be excited to play infront of a standing room only crowd...

Good Luck to Athens and NY!
Represent the BEST league in SE. Ohio!
Hope for a great game, an Injury Free Contest &
Week 11's for Both Teams...but

GO BULLDOGS!
"JUST WIN BABY!"

oh okay you want me to come to Nelsonville for one night of the best and only good game in the TVC. The rest are blow outs, one game doesn't make a good league. Federal is out of playoffs, Eastern in now out having to forfeit 3 games, Wahamn is in WV whoopy, Nelsonville will be out after losing Friday and Athens and Trimble make it but lose after first round as always. Yep the best league in the State. Playoff powerhouses if you consider a couple teams making it each year then losing first round game to real football teams. Same goes for basketball they win sectional against each other in Athens then get to the convo and get blown out. Just the way the coaches in the Jackson sectional want it.

The TVC-Ohio and TVC-Hocking are basically two different leagues ...

Not sure you can say with a straight face that the Soc I and OVC are better football leagues than the TVC-Ohio ... or even the PVC probably isn't as good as the Ohio ... and to be honest there isn't much difference between the TVC-OHio and SVC in football.

and BTW ... I've been watching Wahama for a few years now ... they may be in West Virginia - but they are as good as any DVI team in southeastern Ohio - and a lot of DV teams.

Athens was horrible when Ben Grobe went to school, and he was not even close to the best player on a bad team. Germano, attended Athens schools for 10 years, that's not a "move in", same with Burrow, the kid has attended Athens schools for 8 years now (since 3rd or 4th grade), that is not a move in either. Part of the success of that sophmore class is the fact that they have been together since day one of organized athletics and are extremely close.

and they wouldn't have been at Athens if daddy wasn't coaching at OU still transfers. bottom line is they couldn't win in the SEOAL with transfers and if they were in it this year they still wouldn't have won it. 93 The SVC is much better then the Ohio. I understand you Athens grads are excited for them and loyal as you should be also I can't beleive you don't understand I don't care and just like to stir the pot......just to see how many of you keep responding. I could care less who wins want, I just like having fun. Good luck to all on Friday night.

SVC is doing wel this year with Westfall and PIketon greatone ... but could either beat Athens?
And most years I give the nod to the TVC-Ohio ... No SVC team would have beaten the two top teams last season (NY & Athens) ... the 3rd place team in the Ohio (Alexander) blew out Unioto 35-0 and did the same to Huntington 62-22 ... it goes back and forth year-in-and-year out ... so to say the SVC is "way better" is completely false - especailly when you have Athens and Nelsonville-York invloved in the comparison.

BACK TO ATHENS VS NY ...

EARLY FORCAST SAYS 70 DEGREES AND DRY FRIDAY!

2 Days away!
8 Porta Johns ..... Check
Extra bleachers ....Check
Plenty of parking.....Check
Hard to get home after a close game .....Check
Smaller crowd than last year....Probably.
How many fans will Athens bring? Have they been traveling well this year?

Bucks shock the Dogs. NY Wins by a FG.
