Since you know so much about Wheelersburg why don’t you go ahead and tell us how many of those kids on last years team went to Wheelersburg since well before they started playing football.Cato wrote: Mon Oct 29, 2018 9:33 pmWhy? Fact is Wheelersburg was 6 kids from D4 with the largest Competitive Balance number of any public school in the state. As the previous post said it should've been bigger than that. 40 percent of last year's football roster lived out of district. And based on the number of transfers in the current 8th and 9th grades that number is gonna raise drastically.

So your saying 38 kids on last years football team, excuse me, state winning football team live out of district. I think that’s fuzzy mathCato wrote: Mon Oct 29, 2018 9:33 pmWhy? Really. Explain how? Kids that transfer after the 1st day of the 7th grade count as 3 kids. Kids that go before 7th and live out of district count as 2. The benefit of transfering before the 1st day of the 9th grade is you aren't subject to sitting 50 percent of a seasonwobycat wrote: Mon Oct 29, 2018 9:39 pmYou just lost credibility with that last statement. Several kids in both grades that play football live out of district.
Wheelersburg was 6 kids from D4 on the last count. The CB number will go up, but you may be right the 10 or so boys that transfereed because Wheelersburg canceled the band may be just enough to keep the base enrollment low enough that the CB number doesn't push them to D4

What competive balance doesn’t account for are the kids that live out of district that have went to Wheelersburg their entire academic career. Please tell us how many kids from last years team have been or went to Wheelersburg since elementary school.Cato wrote: Mon Oct 29, 2018 10:01 pmReally. Explain how? And what your not factoring in is not all those kids play football. Heck some kids transfer in just because it's a great school academically
Re: Region 20 #8 Portsmouth West @ #1 Wheelersburg
Not true. Kids that have went since elementary but live out of district count as 2. Kids that transfer after 7th grade begins count as 3bleed_blue wrote: Mon Oct 29, 2018 10:16 pm What competive balance doesn’t account for are the kids that live out of district that have went to Wheelersburg their entire academic career. Out of district kids that don't play football have no effect to the CB number. Boys will count as 1 on base enrollmentBurgfan/grad85 wrote: Mon Oct 29, 2018 10:24 pm And what your not factoring in is not all those kids play football. I understand what you are saying and how competitive balance works and maybe I should of worded it a little better but what I was meaning to say is competive balance counts kids that live out of the district that have attended a school their entire academic career.Cato wrote: Mon Oct 29, 2018 10:31 pmNot true. The BURG rolls on. Especially on the turf at the "Ed" and not the grass at the "Rock". Of course, West should be better on the turf as well. Should be a good ballgame. Beating a team twice in one season let alone 2 weeks in a row will be a tall task.

There is the Normal OHSAA count that happens every 2 years.Mad-Dogg wrote: Tue Oct 30, 2018 12:18 am How does the competitive balance work? Can someone tell me how they figure it
Football is boys in the school.
Each sport must submit a roster to the OHSAA. Each player on that roster that doesn’t live in the district counts toward the competitive balance number. Players that went to that school before 7th grade count one towards cb. Players that started after the first day of 7th grade count as 2. All these 1's and 2's are added together to get a CB number. The CB number is added to the base enrollment to get a number. This number is your enrollment for that sport. This is done each year.

MAd=Dogg, Cato is just stirring the pot, especially when he contradicts himself like when he says they only count those who are playing but wants to know if we've ran off enough band members to keep us off of d4. The truth is all males count when considering competitive balance. The males that don't play, that don't live in district, don't get counted in the "multiplier" but they do get counted as a male in the school. For example, right now Burg is around a 205 balance, they only have 175 males in the school. Their CB is 30. If they only had 150 males in school, their CB would be 180. I guess the problem Cato has is that a lot of males like to play football for Burg.
Re: Region 20 #8 Portsmouth West @ #1 Wheelersburg
That isn't what I said at all. The numbers you have are correct. The 175 was before around 10 left when Wheelersburg decided to cancel band and make a "show band". Wheelersburg's male enrollment went down to approximately 165 and their number for football would be 195.wobycat wrote: Tue Oct 30, 2018 7:38 am MAd=Dogg, Cato is just stirring the pot, especially when he contradicts himself like when he says they only count those who are playing but wants to know if we've ran off enough band members to keep us off of d4. There were 78 players on last year's football roster. 30 was the CB number. If all those players had went to Wheelersburg since before 7th grade, then 38% of the roster (30÷78=38.46%) lived out of district. Wheelersburg closer to a private school than they are a public school.

Your math is f@$%#d up. If the CB # is 30. That means 15 kids live out of district. Not 30. So..... (15/78=19.23%) when you start an argument, know your sh¡t. Don’t come on here throwing false figures around.Cato wrote: Tue Oct 30, 2018 7:52 amThat isn't what I said at all. The numbers you have are correct. You have yet to answer my question and with all the knowledge you have of Wheelersburg and their enrollment you should be able to answer it fairly easy.
