I’ll give credit to both teams. To start 0-2 and 0-3 then be playing for the SOC is an accomplishment.

Congrats to the Pirates on the win over PW, plus I'm sure that you will make room in one of those trophy cases for another Gold Ball.

Re: Burg vs West
Once west had the two early miscues on the punt and fumble it snowballed away from them. I was impressed with Burg defense flying to the football. Yes they gave up some decent chunk runs but after the first scoring drive they put their nose to the grindstone and didn’t let up. I also thought at some point West would air it out at least a little more given the deficit. It works sticking to your guns against others down 2 scores but not tonight

Re: Burg vs West
I feel horrible for my guys last night and this morning.
The mental beating they will take this morning is unbearable, Trust me I’ve been part of it. It’s always the players fault here at West and it’s sickening! Coaches never take ownership of anything. They will lose this team once again

I honestly do not think I have ever heard a bad word about Coach Gilliland. Most of the time it is the fault of the players because they are kids not pros. West has had a good season but they are not Burg. Sometimes that’s hard to accept but it’s the truth.Mrfootball365 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 11:19 am I feel horrible for my guys last night and this morning.

Re: Burg vs West
Exactly. West was nowhere near Burg in talent and don’t know what their fans expected last night. There was Burg and everybody else this year in SOC II.Dan-The-Man wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 12:44 pmI honestly do not think I have ever heard a bad word about Coach Gilliland. If you’re West though, who cares you lost to Burg? You’re the 4 seed in D6 playoffs with 2 home games coming up…focus on the positive! Good luck to both teams in the postseason*

West could very well end up in the regional semi against Coldwater…two home playoff victories isn’t too shabby

So many people just really aren’t as smart as they think they are. Is it a goal to win the SOC and beat your rival every year? Absolutely. But let’s be honest with ourselves. Just from an enrollment standpoint we are not on the same level playing field with Burg as we use to be. Can we compete? Sure. We have great players and I’m not gonna bash the coaches. That’s one of the best programs in southern Ohio. But we also have a very respectable football programs. Most teams would love to be able to say they can get to 7-8 wins a year, get home playoff games and maybe win a few. I’m not saying we shouldn’t have high expectations but what did we want here? In order to win we needed flawless ball. Start out with a terrible mistake on a punt, and then fumble it inside our own 30. You can coach coach coach but at the end of the day, mistakes ended that game before halftime.
Like previously stated we have a good chance to win two home playoff games and possibly play one of the best programs in the state. We produce great ball players and compete for conference titles almost on an annual basis. All that while being one of the smallest schools in our conference now. Like I said I’m not trying to say we shouldn’t have expectations but darn. There is a lot of good football minds on the West Side. But darn I hear some dumb takes also

Parent or ex-player and only negative thing I believe I've seen on coaches the score was 36-6 it's the entire team's fault and I really don't know that fault is the right word simply put they played a better team. Games like this are going to happen no matter how great you play the other team is just simply better top to bottom which was the case here. You've earned the right to host 2 playoff games which is a good season so make it countMrfootball365 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 11:19 am I feel horrible for my guys last night and this morning.

Re: Burg vs West
Burg has a passing game and a secondary. That’s a couple more differences.*Larry Fine wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 11:47 pm Wheelersburg just has more depth. That’s the only difference.
Re: Burg vs West
West got out played and smarted from start to finish! They have made it so easy on Burg the last few years lol.
