This thread has been pretty tough to read. Tons of finger pointing and false accusations, or the more popular "don't put words in my mouth!" comment. This is a Minford thread but since Minford fans are so good at hijacking other SOC threads, I don't feel quite as bad adding my 2 cents. :-D

Anyways, I'm a big fan of Coach Daniels and I admire what he's been able to do. He's also had a very nice stream of talent run through his program as of late. So while I think he and his staff are darn good coaches, I don't think that is quite a FACT that Minford has the best coaching staff in the county. That's a pretty subjective statement if you ask me, but you didn't... But its great to have that kind of support coming from the patrons.

I guess I'll let the "contest" continue and wish the Falcons the best of luck. Although if PAIN is involved tomorrow night, I don't think I'll be there... I'm not much of a masochist.

ole indian wrote:It is funny listening to the Minford Fans. You would think that they are state champions or something. So what they have one a few games in the past. It is also funny how they always throw scores from this season into the mix. If that's the case then it should be a good game since, the Minford offense is no good, because they only put up 14 points against a struggling Waverly team. And they only beat Waverly by 7 points man u you folks at Minford must have one heck of an offense. Powerhouse teams get better as the season goes on, and Minford on the other hand they usually get worse as the season goes on. This a reflection on the Coaching Staff at Minford. Minford is never going to be a powerhouse because they do not like holding on to good coaches, as they got rid of Coach Ashley who was the best coach Minford has had in the past 15 years.

Their is no need to bash our Coaching staff. We are proud of them! I see you are on here a lot with 7 posts, so you must be well informed !

Valley has hit a little dry spell since jumping up to the tougher conference.

Good luck to both teams tonight on an injury free game.

Well here we go again, there is always somebody standing in line to tell us how they beat us in the past. I don't think anybody from Minford has claimed to have had the best football program in the past. We know, there is not many teams, that we play every year, that we have a winning record against.
The only team's thay can really brag about that is The Burg. West has alot to brag about also. But you can look back thru the books and see alot of schools that have some good runs. Portsmouth, Portsmouth East, Notre Dame, and even Green has had some good teams, at times. And yes, Valley you have had some good teams also. But back when you went 10 and 0 every year, you couldn't even get enough points to make the playoffs. So who were you really beating? Then the biggest school you beat was Minford.

Now I'm not trying to start a big fight. I'm just letting you know that, we know, that we haven't been the best program in the area. But that we are trying to start a good program NOW!!!! And some of us have waited along time to have something to brag about. We thought we could do that, since it is MINFORD FANS thread.

Really since they went 4 years in a row when they were going 10-0? Not only where they making it they were always the top four in the region. They didn't start taking 8 in the playoffs until 99. They must have been beating someone getting them points. A lot of the schools they beat were actually the same size or bigger. Not just Minford who they beat each year. West was bigger, Northwest was bigger. Piketon was the same size as was Oak Hill. Really the only smaller schools were East, Green, ND. Symmes made the playoffs during that run as well.

Weak argument. Speaking of a program though. Minford does have history though. They made that nice run to the semi's in 85 so I'm not running down their program at all.

I said it wrong, I didn't mean bigger. You are right West and Northwest were bigger. But at that time I think West was in a rut and wasn't getting many points. I know that Minford was down also.

And as far a 85, we had a great team. We were very strong the year before, and the year after as well.

Now, let's clear this up a little. When Valley went 10-0 four straight seasons, they made the playoffs every season and only the 1999 season was a year of 8 playoff teams. So Valley was in the top 4 every year during that run.

Jesco White remembers and knows more about this than I, so he might need to clear some of this up. The year they didn't make it at 10-0 (1992) took a shady forfeit/cancellation from a Columbus team to knock Valley out of the playoffs. This was prior to the current system.

The Indians also went to the playoffs in 2005 with a 9-1 record, which was good enough for a home playoff game. Notre Dame, Green, and from time to time Oak Hill and East took a nose dive during the early part of the last decade and this was coincided with Valley moving to SOC II. And Valley's had as much playoff success as anyone not named West in the last 12 years, with 2 regional final appearances. So what's that have to do with tonight's game? Not a darn thing! Let's enjoy a good ballgame tonight, and not get to nuts after tonights game... Even though I'm sure emotions will be running high.
