The sopomore QB for Athens has tremendous potential.
GAHS wore Athens down (last year they wore us down)
GAHS half time adjustments O and D determined the outcome.
GAHS has better team speed than last year, but still will be slower than most teams.
GAHS D line was not impressive, hopefully it was because of Athen's spread
There is nothing wrong with JR leadership but seniors need to step up.
The team toughness compared to last years team seemed to be down. This years players need to remember the toughness of Taylor, Saunders, Bokovich and Guisinger. Bring the attitude they had every Friday night.
The Athens win should bring a lot of computer points, but it is very early, GAHS must win their games.

Agree with all but, D line was fine, I thought, and I don't know about speed of other teams so much.

Despite the loss, Athens has to be the early favorite to win the TVC Ohio again.

Pappy

the only thing i disagree with you on is the toughness of the team. i am not saying this team may not lack it but i didn't see anything last night that would bring this teams toughness in to question but maybe your pointing out something i have missed. I thought the seniors played fine and showed leadership. But some of this teams stars are juniors and they are going to shine it does not mean the senior are not leading. Once again that is not disagreeing with you that is just saying i did not see anything wrong with the leadership last night. Maybe you saw things i didn't.

I definitely don't disagree about team speed. i think as a group they are definitely faster but that is to be expected because there not as big. As far as other teams being faster we will have a few problems but that will be more of a individual match up then a entire team problem.

as far as d-line play goes. I always thought in a 4-4 like we run that it was the lineman's job to occupy 6 offensive linemen with 4 defenders freeing up the 4 line backers to fill holes and create most tackles. And i think that is the way this team will have to win. because their not as big they are not going to force their will into the backfield. I also think that is the reason we have problems against teams like ironton and jackson with powerful runners and big lineman. with wide splits. i know gallia has worked on it in off season and hopefully we have answer to power running game. if we can then we will compete all 10 weeks and have a great chance each week.

1. this team has no talent.
2. this team has no team speed
3. this team has no breakaway threats
4. you can't pass out of this offense.
5. you can't play behind in this offense.
6. this coaching staff can't make adjustments
7. and finally we are going to have to win games 10-7
8. the quarterback is a duel fret.

just kidding guys.
great game.
did nick clagg break his foot or is it something else.
we need to get quicker punt snaps or we are going to have more punts blocked
good defensive adjustments taking away the cushion and adding pressure.

let's go have another good week of practice and get better.
the devils get a big 1st win surprising score
the offense looked better at times, but this was a young athens team that just had a lot of breakdowns on defense as did we
i am concerned about our defense this was a sloppy game
remember it's 1 game don't go giving GA the seoal title just yet
i hope we play like this on offense every week but now coaches can prepare for us and we can be scouted team speed is ok
good job devils get ready for licking heights because they are not a young team

Just simply cannot say anything positive.
ok! i will post like this every time i am on here
wow did you see those devils we will prob win the state we scored 50 points, not to mention we let athens score 34 (that sure was nice of us) i think we will beat everyone in the seoal by 40 no problem
everything is good now in devil land our offense is ranked no 1 in the state i can't wait til next friday i think we beat those licking guys by 45 easily geesh we run tackle pass and even cheer louder and better than any team in the state i don't think we lose we will be 16-0 state champs
i really feel full of my self this afternoon great to be a blue devil fan
is that better

i knew you would come around bevo :-D :-D :-D :-D
just kidding.

would never want to hear you that would be ridiculous. i just hope when they get over .500 and play a solid year if that happens that you would post about all the positive things instead of always pointing out why we are not state champions.

both offenses in this game were very impressive. both will need improved defense if they expect to contend for league title and play off spot.
congratulations on the win devils.

The team looked good overall. Great first win.

Positives:
Excellent adjustments by the coaching staff at halftime. Throwing the ball out of our run formations was something I did not expect to see.
There were times when it would have been easy for GA to roll over and quit in the first half. They did not!
Jarrell looked good as a dual threat, but needs to anticipate the hit and put the ball away when he runs
Warnimont looked impressive and had better speed than I anticipated
Our kicker looked good on XP and FG

Negatives:
The tackling was poor. Way too much arm-tackling. Other than a couple of nice hits by Bailey, I don't remember the pads popping much.
The D-line took awhile to get going. I thought that Gragg and Williams would put a lot of pressure on the QB and they didn't until into the 2nd half
We just weren't very physical. It can be difficult to do so against a team that throws the ball so much, so I'll give them a pass and see what happens the next couple of weeks
Our kick coverage will cost us a game down the road if we don't improve it - See poor tackling above

A good first win. Things to be proud of and things to improve upon.

Congrats to Coach Eddy and staff and most especially the players on a big road "W"
to start the 2012 season... Great start!!!!

Offense-(unlike last year)Very well balenced(run/pass),very good execution(only 2 penalties),
and very unpredictable. Cudos to our new"O" coord.-coach"J. Mac.".

Defense-Great halftime adjustments on the no huddle, spread that we couldn't stop at all
in the 1st half. Cudos to our very good "D" coord.-coach " A. P.".

Special Teams-Field goals & x-tra pts. - Perfect
Punts & punt coverage - Good
Kickoff coverage - Needs some work

Goal-Let's play em one at a time. Get better everyday and every week.

GO BLUE !!!
