No matter what these two teams would have been playing each other ... it was just a matter of who gets to wear their home uniforms.greatone wrote:Sheridan is a tough draw for Logan Elm coming from the rugged MVl which fits right in with tournament officiating.

Re: Athens DII DISTRICT
The top half of the District brackets looks wide open. Logan Elm gets a tough draw against Sheridan. Should be good!
Re: Athens DII DISTRICT
We'll see how it plays out when the big dance starts. I like the draw that both Logan Elm and Circleville got.
Logan Elm is playing better right now than they were during that stretch of losses. Hopefully for them they continue on that upward pattern into the tournament.
Circleville is probably a year away, but it has the potential to win a couple of games if they play well. They were right there against MT at MT earlier this season.

There are only 2 "locks" to get to the Convo out of the 8 slots open to play in Athens. Warren and Athens will be moving on.
Miami Trace can be streaky and while I think they are likely to advance, both Circleville and Waverly are dangerous. That should be a heck of an 8/9 game just to face the Panthers.
Logan Elm vs Sheridan should be a great game to advance on
Washington CH vs Chillicothe should be a battle. I think the Blue Lions are too well coached and have too much pride to let the Cavs dominate them again, but Coach Meister has Zach Johnson and a nice matchup with their athletes and I think it will be a great game and Chillicothe victory.
Unioto vs McClain was a very good game the 1st time around and should be a battle at SE. McClain has won the last 14 meetings between the two schools. McClain shot lights out in the 1st meeting and I think will have to do it again to counteract Unioto's size advantage inside.
Vinton County vs Fairfield Union, a rematch of last year where the Falcons pulled off the "upset" over the high seeded Vikings. I think Coach Combs' bunch is hungrier and better than they were a year ago. It will still be a task to slow down Jordan Barr though. Should be a great matchup.
Fairland should advance past Hillsboro, but this is another rematch from last year and this year's Hillsboro club wants the game in the 20s or 30s and have pretty much gone at that pace all year and been able to dictate it. If the Dragons get out early, they have too many horses for the Indians, but it could get interesting if Hillsboro gets an early lead.
My picks to advance to the Convo:
Miami Trace vs Logan Elm
Athens vs Chillicothe
Warren vs Unioto
Fairland vs Vinton County
With:
Athens over Miami Trace
Warren over Vinton County
To decide the District Championships
I wish this week would fly by so we can get the tournament time!

danicalifornia I am thinking alot of the same that you were. I like chillicothe in the rematch, and I too think vinton county is going to make some noise. I picked two early upsets in seedings not in records with sheridan and McClain winning opening rounds. Sheridan just is always tough come tourney time. They have spoiled a lot of peoples hopes year in and year out including my Warriors a few years back. And as you had mentioned some teams just have the others number and this might be the McClain / Unioto matchup.
I hope my Warriors can keep playing good team ball and not overlook anybody as I too have them against Athens in a classic rematch in the regionals. GO BLUE!!!

I hope having a full week to prepare for McClain will change Unioto's fortunes a bit, but the loss of Erique Hosley could loom large for the Shermans, as he posted a double double in the previous meeting.
