I guess time will tell. I stand by my observations. Rock hill has a stud tailback.

My bad. I thought they were or used to be. I will fix it. That must be why I had them last

Improved Trojans from last year?

Sorry, but that is very comical. Portsmouth has been down since 2007 and during this time they still had great athletes. The talent pool wasn't completely bare. Last night, not only did I see arm tackles from a team that practiced defense all offseason (maybe that's why the didn't score) but now this years team lacks a lot of talent. Sorry, that's how it is and anyone who has watched Trojan football since the decline knows exactly what I'm talking about.

Do any of those kids go to the weight room? That has to be the smallest group of players Portsmouth has ever had.

I could only watch one half last night, I didnt see much in improvement, the Valley fron 7 was dominant and the defense was more of the same for my Trojans. The Trojans started the game in a spread look and did pick up a couple first downs, then a scak and the drive is over, special teams was decent, except for a ten yard punt which put the game away early.Lots of work to be done in my old home town, but I have confidence in Coach AD.

I think some of the Trojans Critics are selling Valley short. I guess I didn't realize they had 19 of 21 starters back from last year. They are likely the best team in our area. I thought Cole Lowery was fairly accurate when he had some time to throw and Austin Hollins ran well. It still seemd to me that the coaches were kind of experimenting with the Offense a little. I expected to see more of the Power I from the start but we came out with jet sweeps and passes which caught me off guard. I have to measure this years team on improvement form start to finish, and not how they fare against a potential regional title challenger. We were outclassed last night but its no embarrassment and I don't think we'll be the only team that gets outclassed by Valley this year.

It'd be elementary to sell Valley short. They very well could go to the state championship this year if they stay healthy. However, I'm not being over critical of a Portsmouth team who claimed defense was the focus all offseason and they still come out with the same hanky panky arm tackling garbage. Several Valley scores and long gains came off sometimes 5 missed tackles. And that has been the norm since 2007. This has truly become the decade of despair for Trojan football. I really do hope the new coach can turn this around and bring back Trojan football to respectable form. No one expects this team this year to win ever game. However, you have to show more heart and effort.
