Ranking the Area teams since the PDT won't after week 4
1. West (4-0) Last week # 1- The Senators hold onto the top spot for a 2nd week in a row after they go 3-0 against the OVC with a 42-6 victory over Rock Hill. West has yet to have a real challenge this season, and have yet to play a team with more than one win. The Senators stay at #1 because of the way they have won their games. They will complete their dismantling of the OVC this week when they travel to Chesapeake to play the 2-2 Panthers.
2. Wheelersburg (4-0)-Last week #2- The Burg rolls again this week as they defeated cross river foe Greenup 35-7. The Musketeers were the latest team to get the Schank from the Burg, this time big brother Jordan carried the load with 11 carries for 110 yards rushing. The Pirates should be looking for victim # 5 when they travel to Rock Hill on Friday to take on a winless Redman team. (The Pirates maybe able to move ahead of West this week if Ironton can prove themselves.)
3. Ironton (3-1) last week # 4- Ironton wins as they defeated the Tomcats of Ashland KY 18-6. This was a little closer game then I had anticipated but I know very little of Ashland. The point is the Fighting Tigers pick up another win as they get ready for the week 5 showdown. This is the week that Ironton has been waiting for since rejoining the SEOAL. This should be the Fighting Tigers best shot at Logan since rejoining the league. A win here and the Tigers are # 1 both in the league and on this list. GO TIGERS.
4. Jackson (4-0) last week # 3 – The Ironmen stay perfect as they escape Portsmouth with a 21-20 victory, taking the lead on a 4th and goal from the 2 with 15 seconds remaining. The Ironmen looked as if they would suffer their first loss of the season as late in the 4th quarter they are forced to turn the ball over to the Trojans. The Ironmen remained perfect by recovering a fumble and going around 35 yards to win it at the last minute. One heck of a game and I think an old rivalry will be heating back up. This week the Ironmen will travel to Gallipolis to take on the Gallia Academy Blue Devils.
5. Chillicothe (2-2) last week # 5- The Cavs recovered from a tough loss the week before to defeat Zanesville 24-21. This Chillicothe team has loads of talent but seems to be up and down. When they play the way they are capable they are the best team on the list. This week Chillicothe will travel down US23 to Portsmouth to face an old rival in the Trojans.
6. Minford (4-0) last week # 6 – The Falcons continue to win, this time to the tune of 13-0 of the Coal Grove Hornets. Don’t let Coal Groves’ 1-3 record fool you this is the best team the Falcons have faced this year. This was the first test of many for the Falcons which will host another this week in the form of the 3-1 Oak Hill Oaks. This is the first big match up in region 15 and could go along way toward the playoffs.
7. Waverly (3-1) last week #7- The Tigers pick up win # 3 with a 35-7 victory over Vinton County. Waverly’s offense continues to look strong and the defense seems to be getting better and better. The Tigers will face a stiff task this week in D2 Franklin Heights. Looks like SOC 2 could be a real dog fight.
8. Gallia Academy (2-2) last week #8- Gallia takes another one on the chin this week as they lose to Logan 40-7. The Blue Devils will need to rally this week as Jackson comes to town. G.A. has yet to beat a quality opponent and has been blown out by 2 powerhouses. I think they are a middle of the road team that could sneak up on some teams; this could be one of those weeks.
9. Portsmouth (1-3) last week # 8- The Trojans lost a heartbreaker this week as they fall to Jackson 21-20. The young Trojans had a chance to secure their second win of the season only to watch it fall through their hands. Portsmouth looked much better this week but still needs to do some work on the line. I thought that the young guards and center stepped up this week and played a better game than in weeks past, but still plenty of room for improvement. What was impressive for the Trojans were the ways they found to get the ball into the hands of Forest Johnson and Jon Royster. Royster was able to finish the night with over 150 all purpose yards on 9 carries. This comes one week after he had an electrifying kickoff return against the Burg. If this is a prelude to what we can look forward to out of this young man you can put me down as the first member of what I’m calling The Red and Blue Royster Cult. The Trojans will need Royster and all their weapons as this week they say “oh no here comes Godzilla†in the form of the Chillicothe Cavilers. The Cavs will be the most athletic team the Trojans have faced; it’s a rivalry and normally a great game for both. GOOD LUCK TROJANS. (I hope the younger readers get the Blue Oyster Cult references.)
10. Valley (3-1) last week #9- The Indians pick up win # 3 with a 9-0 victory over Chesapeake. This is the Indians best win of the season, and they set at 3-1 but they remain at 10 because if they played the schedule that Portsmouth or Gallia Academy do, they would have not faired as well. In the coming weeks the Indians can prove to be contenders or merely pretenders. This week they travel to South Point to take on the Pointers.
11. Oak Hill (3-1) last week # 11- The Oaks continue to look strong as they beat up on a very week schedule the past 3 weeks. This week they get their shot to prove they belong in the top ten as they travel to Minford to take on the Falcons. Without a win this week I think the Oaks will need help to make it to the postseason.
12. East (3-1) last week #11- The Tartans return to the win column after a 13-12 victory over Buffalo. The Tartans have been unimpressive in their last two games but have managed to escape the state of West Virginia at 1-1. This week the Tartans get a break as they play host to the Greyhounds of Manchester. (This game was originally scheduled to be played away but Manchester has had a problem getting their lights ready.) Then in week five East will play host to what may be the SOC championship as Oak Hill invades Sciotoville.
13. Norte Dame (2-2) last week # 13- The Titans picked up a big win Saturday night as they defeated Clark Montessori 38-12. The Titians seem to be getting better and better each game. They may be able to move up the list and make some noise in SOC 1 in a few weeks. The next two games should not pose a problem for the Titians.
14. Green (2-1) last week #14- Green lost Friday to Grove City Christian 27-6. The Bobcats drop their first game to a very good opponent. Green has yet to beat anyone with a victory but has looked better. The Bobcats are an unknown at this point.
15. Symmes Valley (2-2) last week # 15- The Vikings win 53-22 against winless Manchester. Symmes Valley also has to answer some questions before SOC play starts. They will have a battle to stay out of the cellar this week as they travel to Northwest to take on the Mohawks.
16. Northwest (1-3) last week # 16- The Mohawks dropped another game this week, this time at the hands of Oak Hill. If the Mohawks want another win and to get out of the cellar I think this will be their last real shot.
2. Wheelersburg (4-0)-Last week #2- The Burg rolls again this week as they defeated cross river foe Greenup 35-7. The Musketeers were the latest team to get the Schank from the Burg, this time big brother Jordan carried the load with 11 carries for 110 yards rushing. i agree

to be the best you must beat the champs.
will they? maybe! but as of week 4
burg 1
west 2
Re: Ranking the Area teams since the PDT won't after week 4
I have heard that west is a good team this year but a good friend of mine and past coach told me that he went to the west vs. portsmouth game and saw the worst portsmouth team ever put on a field against a decent team...
Wheelersburg did what it took to win the game against ironton in the 1st game of the year...but probably wouldn't win but 1 out of another nine if they played again...just my opinion...
I do think that wheelersburg is a good team...just not as good as ironton is now...Ironton has came a long way...
I do say though...
1. Ironton
2. Burg
3. West
4. Jackson
5. Waverly
6. Minford

West posters sure make it hard to put them at # 1.

TIGERS90 I too believe that Ironton would beat the Burg if they played again, and that they would beat West, but they failed to get the job done in week one. The Tigers have their shot at redemption this week.

Speaking of the PDT, is there a reason why they haven't covered a single Notre Dame game this season?
Re: Ranking the Area teams since the PDT won't after week 4
Yeah, they cant equate that loss of readership yet. people in Ptown are still reading so why send anyone to their games? When it drops, it will get better. but then again, you lose money and then they only have 2 people to cover instead of 3.
If you want to put Ironton #1, i have a problem with that. They lost, thats that. Play the game again, who is to say the result wouldnt be the same. Just like in Lewis tenure at Burg, Burg was so much better as the year went on. Do we relive that drama? Ironton behind Burg till they beat them again.

"One" West poster makes it difficult...the rest have some class. Reminds me of tigercannon from Ironton. I hope South Point is going to start making some noise come OVC time.

You are right local superstar, but it only takes one bad apple to ruin it for everybody. Most West posters have been a little more laid back but there are a few that like to talk it up. (every school has them) I just hope the team is not as full of themselves as some of the posters, because it would be a shame for them to think they are unbeatable. I think any team in the top seven would have a shot at the Senators

Nobody beat The Georgia Bulldogs yet USC is # 1 now! This list is just who I think is #1. Burg, West, Minford and Waverly can fight it out in a few weeks.

Tobias this is totally offtopic but I went by GC highschool last night and there were quite a few people watching a baseball game under the lights. Does GC have somekind of a fall baseball league they play in? Just wondering.

1. The PDT is the Portsmouth Daily Times. They used to cover area teams with a power ranking, but the cover is horrible this year.
2. The teams that are ranked are all members of either the SEOAL south, or the SOC. I just can't include everybody, but if I did Logan would be # 1.

understand....thanks...
and i dont think logan should be number one personally....
there is other teams that have the same record....
then i'd factor in the schedule and the division...
then their past imo logan would be no worse then top 5 but other teams should get the chance of being there too..

I do try to take into consideration schedule and the way in which a team won or loss, but I do these rankings as an overall regardless of division. That's why if the Chieftains were eligible for the list they would have to be # 1. (Unless those Fighting Tigers come home with a victory on Friday)
