Looks like the Martin girl is having a good season thus far.

The future is bright....hopefully they can all commit completely as a team and get going this year.

Candace Chapman was hit/cut on her forehead and looked up and it was pretty darn scary....looked like she had no eye as that entire area was completely covered in blood. She was bandaged up and played a little more but not too much.

Meredith Harless was on a breakaway and during her layup was fouled and her momentum took her into the wall under the mat and before she could get up the trainers were there and not allowing her to move anything. She was conscience the whole time and 45 minutes later the game resumed after they took her to the hospital in the ambulance.

Jackson had it in control with a 1 point lead and the ball with 45 seconds and not much pressure but they took the shot and GM rebounded and took the lead....game went into 2 ot and GM missed as many free throws as I can ever remember in a game.

I-92 Thanks for the update. Hope they can bounce back tonight against Portsmouth. This should be a game they can win.

Jackson gets its first win Saturday night against Portsmouth, winning by a final score of 54-32.

Ironladies now 1-4 on the year.

Jackson led most of the first half, but Portsmouth scored final six points of first half to trail 18-17 at halftime and then scored first basket of second half to take a 19-18 lead.

With the score tied 21-21, Jackson went on a 20-0 - yes 20-0 - run with pressure off their diamond full-court press and that was it.

I think it's rather obvious that this team is loaded with gaurd type of players and that helter skelter should be their game plan to score easy buckets off of their press. If the kids will sell out, they are deep enough to pressure an entire game. The half court set has not worked well with the lack of a post game. Maybe coach Martin has caught on to something?

The Jackson girls were a TEAM tonight and looked pretty solid.

Playing 10 deep for a significant part of the game and 9 scoring I believe with no one in double digits I think.

As asked above the Harless girl is fine (except for a probable mental thought on breakaway layups).....She had 9 points tonight I think.

Sophomore Nicole Chapman really impresses me with her ability as a guard and her jumping ability is quite rare.

When the younger players become as confident and assertive on the offense as teh senior girls.....they'll be tough to beat.

The future is bright and this year still has a shot if they keep doing what they have lately.

The press is on!! These girls play alot better in an up tempo style. I have to say I think the diamond is a better option for them than the 1-2-2. Hope Coach Martin hasn't forgotten about the 1-3-1 half court trap to go along with the pressure. This team will need to grow up quickly in the SEOAL. Congrats on a good win and keep up the good work!!

sound like jackson needs to play that uptempo style whether by full court pressure or using the half court trap.

I heard they had some good post players coming out of the 8th grade. Seems i remember them saying something about a girl named Carly or Carrie or something like that. Do you know?

Yes I do. If you like I'll PM you later, but would rather not throw 8th grade kids onto the varsity site as I know these kids very well.
