Funniest, or most hilarious finish you've EVER seen

Had to be a Class A game in WV in '06 I believe. Hundred @ Paden City.

Both schools 0-9 and heated rivals.

Hundred is winning big, not sure of score, but it's by at least 3 TDs. Anyway, the game's at PC and Hundred has ball at midfield with less than a half minute to go.

Hornets throw a long pass complete inside the 10, and call a TIME OUT. I'm sitting on the Hundred side of field because I'd never seen this school play.

PC fans are screaming from across the field, but HHS coach calls a double reverse end around draw-it-in-the-dirt play where the WR throws a pass into the end zone complete for another TD and the Hornets fans erupt like they'd won state.

Only seconds remained after the kickoff and in the end, Paden City's players want to fight, Hundred is more than willing, but the teams are so mad at each other that the post-game handshakes nearly turn into a brawl.

I'm laughing all the way home on this one because this game was more fun to watch, two 0-9 teams, than any game I'd seen in all my years. I will always remember this one.

I lived away in the Military at the time and don't know much about this game or how it went.

Ironton finished the regular season 6-3 and made a run all the way to the State Championship game, losing to Sanducky Perkins 16-14. Ironton finished the season 10-4, I do know that much.

Lutz going for it on 4th down at his own 27 with 41 seconds left,They didnt make it then Perkins scored in I think it was 2 plays?You could have heard a pin drop on that side of Paul Brown Stadium,It was just surreal! The look on all of the peoples faces looked like they had been punched in the gut!
Hard to believe that was almost a decade ago!That means I am getting old!

Thanks, I remember hearing about it now. Ending the regular season 6-3 and making it that far is pretty amazing, sad it ended that way.

Years ending in 9 has been pretty good for the Tigers.

didn't ironton have a punt blocked earlier in that game? if so that could have been the reason Lutz went for it at that stage of the game. just curious.

Yeah had one blocked and 2 others werethisclose to being blocked.

I think Ironton went for it because they have never been known for having the best kicking game!
I may be wrong, but in the last 10 years I've been following HS football I can't remember them having one

But this subject is for a whole new thread on its own if we get in a conversation about the kicking games!

So wildest/funniest finishes I'd say was Portsmouth/Burg fumble 07 or Ironton/Burg last minute TD last season

Part of this is funny... part of this is not...
'97 NY at Miller... halftime a "fight" breaks out on the walk back to the locker rooms...
the interesting part is: They bring both teams back out onto the field & make them shake hands... then as they set to kickoff... Wait we don't have any emergency personel left so we can't play...

The kicker... that basketball season the two teams played a game... with 0 fans!!!

I think the lack of EMS was the official reason for the cancellation of that game but I'm pretty sure that you would have to admit that the fight was not over. It may have been over as far as the players were concerned but the brawl that was brewing in the stands on both sides was enough to make cancelling this game a very smart move. Lots of emotion that night and the fight between the players was just the thunder before the storm.

I remember the fans were lined up almost all the way back to the locker room egging on the bucks to take care of business on the field... in my opinion the football players from NY would have played so well and tough the rest of the game by the end the fans would have calmed down... the score at the half was 13-0, but I could have seen NY putting up a 50 spot in the 2nd half!

this wasn't a funny game it is was amazing how it ended. the 08 burg-ironton game. burg down by 6 late in the game and score the game winnin td with 33 sec left

Not really funny, just kinda odd the turn of events. PV vs ZT 2008... ZT up 28-0 in the second quarter.. Paint Valley Scores 28 unanswered to tie, then with a chance to win with under a minute left, ZT fumbles inside their own 30. PV scores the game winner and wins 35-28

55Buckeyes98 you're probably right about the score and I think that is what would have provoked the fans from Miller to get some get back so to speak. It was definitely a bad situation avoided.
