It's a big game night and emotions will be riding high with Senior Night, the anticipation of Blake Justice hitting his 1000th point as a sophomore and the rematch between the Indians and Lions after an intense matchup at Fairfield's house that resulted in some injured Peebles players, sore feelings from both sides, and a dark cloud overshadowing the Fairfield Varsity program. It'll be a night chalked full of excitement, it should be a good game you might want to get there early!!!

Towards the end of the 4th, I observed Fairfield's coach taking direction from the two men sitting on the top bleacher directly across from their bench. Both were wearing red shirts and "advised" the coach to not let Blake score (1000)and they also told the coach to clap for #10 as he was being taken out of the game. Just wondered who they were and if dirty play is expected and rewarded at Fairfield.


Congratulations to Blake for his 1000 point and to the Indians for a nice victory.

Not sure of the final score, but it was 10 - 12 points in favor of the home Indians. Great team effort for Peebles and a big congratulations to Blake Justice on his 1000 point. It was awesome to see how all of his teammates were celebrating in his accomplishment and he knows without a doubt if it wasn't for them he wouldn't have reached this plateau. This team really seems to have bought into Coach Lawhorn's system and you can see when teams are out chasing Blake off screens that a simple slip-screen is resulting in some easy baskets. Great job by the passers reading the defense. I was once told and still believe it to this day, "the defense is always wrong" and our boys are making this an accurate statement.

Now, put this behind and get ready for the tournament. Last time I checked West Portsmouth now has the same record as Peebles.

I really can't believe that someone thinks that a coach will take advice from two men in red shirts directly across from the bench. Come on, Coach Carson has fine upstanding assistant coaches on his bench to advise him. Give it a rest, one kid does something bad and you label the whole Fairfield program. Congrats to the Justice kid he is one heck of a player, takes after his old man.

Thanks to all the senior Peebles Indians - players and cheerleaders - for what you've done the last four years. Basketball in small town USA is like Friday Night Lights in Texas in regards to football. I'm sure the entire community appreciates all of your efforts. Best of luck to Tyler A, Tyler C, Josh, Evan, and Michael. You guys that are seniors mean a lot to me as that was my first year in Peebles. Time sure does go quick. TA are you still up for that map test???

Nothing Fairfield did last night was able to ruin the night. The senior moments warmed the crowd up, the planets aligned and it was a night to remember.

I believe the final score was 70-56. The last 30 seconds of the game were intense as Blake needed 2 points to hit his 1000th point. The other boys on the floor worked hard to get the ball to Blake and Fairfield was doing everything in their power to prevent it. After missing two previous foul shots when he went to the line again with 13 seconds left on the clock, the crowd was on their feet and holding their breath. When he hit his second foul shot, the crowd erupted. It was a special moment. Justice was signing autographs for all the kids including a few from Fairfield.

Congratulations Blake and Best of Luck to all the Seniors!!

Indeed a very special night. I can't say enough about this team. We can talk about their hard work, their hustle, their abilities, but most importantly, they are a special team. They are a group of boys who believe in each other and are all about each other, each and every one of them. Each wants to do whatever they can to contribute to winning and are the most unselfish bunch I've ever seen.
Big congrats to Blake Justice! I have to say also that there was a lot of class shown by the majority of the Fairfield players. They talked and laughed with the Peebles boys before and for quite awhile after the game. They stood up and clapped for the 1000th point and even though their coach was telling them otherwise, seemed to want Blake to score it.
Keep going Indians, full speed ahead and we'll all be there rooting you on!
