SE D2 Tourney Seeding

Post by Ironman92 »

South: Athens, Gallia Academy, Jackson, Marietta, South Point, Unioto, Warren Local, Waverly, Vinton County

1. Waverly
2. Unioto?

3-5 Athens, Warren, Marietta

6. Gallia Academy
7. Jackson 10-6
8-9 South Point, Vinton County

Has Athens, Warren and Marietta all played head to head?

I know nothing of South Point.

Jackson is 10-6 but has lost head to head versus Warren and Gallia Academy (close 5 game match)

Jackson will face Athens this week before the drawing.

As of 9-29 Marietta was 7-7.

What are the records and resumes of Waverly and Unioto?

Athens is the team I see going the farthest in this group.

They lost to Warren and Reedsville in the Athens tournament the first weekend of the season----they made the mistake of not scheduling any matches during the week heading into the tourney and got dusted before they knew what hit them. Since then they have only lost one match to Pleasant and they are ranked #3 in Division 3 in the state poll.

I don't believe they have played Marietta. The coaches website does not contain all of Athens matches but it does show all of Marietta's and according to their schedule they haven't met.

They swept Huntington in 3 at Huntington on the same weekend as the Unioto tournament. That somehow has gone unnoticed on here.

They have beaten Nelsonville and Alexander in the TVC Ohio in the last few weeks with matches remaining against both before the tourney.

Not unnoticed...just unknown. Scores aren't always easy to locate! Looking forward to seeing Athens Wednesday

All of the SVC scores are always on wkkj.com

and the coaches website would answer a lot of the questions you pose on here----ohsvca.net

Marietta is 8-8 and a 5 seed at best. They did beat Gallia pretty easily though and that should keep them seeded ahead of
Gallia and Jackson.

I think you will see what I am talking about when you see Athens on Wednesday----they play similar to South Webster.

Wkkj takes the scores off after a few days.

Jackson falls to 10-7 with a 5 game loss at Meigs

Marietta will face Warren again this week. Should tell alot about each team. Marietta missing two starters last time they played. Also ECOL much tougher than SEOAL hands down.

With Warren and Marietta playing and Athens at Jackson playing things can still move around.

1. Waverly
2. Unioto
3. Warren
4. Athens
5. Marietta
6. Gallia Academy
7. Jackson
8. South Point
9. Vinton County

With no overwhelming league represented there could be a lot of jockeying for spots 2-4 and 5-7

Athens was excellent. Very good serving, excellent defense, attacked well.

I would have no issues with them as the #2. they could beAt about anyone around here.

Warren (15-4) over Marietta in 5 very spirited games. No quit in either team. Kudos to the girls for playing through the officiating fiasco....WOW!!!!!

Warren plays Portsmouth on Saturday...a victory would clinch the SEOAL Championship.

I was impressed with Athens as much as any team I have seen this season. They got every ball up but if a team could get some good hits and often....maybe they wouldn't seem as unbeatable....but with a 6'1 or 6'2 girl in the middle at all times and their serves are placed well with movement.....tough to get the opportunities you would normally get.

As mentioned above....they are very similar to South Webster. They might pass the ball around quicker than any team I have seen.

I'm not sure they are better than Waverly....but would enjoy the match between them.

Have not seen Unioto but right now Athens would get my #2.....unless I felt my team would get the #7....and Jackson falls right into that most likely.
