Not much is expected from Huntington because of their last couple of seasons but hopefully the new coach has the team headed in the right direction. I'm not predicting a win against valley but I do think that they are much improved

Valley starters should get a good half of practice in before the #2's take over. I see Valley winning big.

I'm pretty sure Portsmouth replaces Huntington on the schedule next year. I don't think it's week 1 though.

How is Valley QB, Yates heard he may have some hip issues. Hope not, he is a exciting player on both sides of the ball to watch play the game.

YTB
Portsmouth is for sure on Valley's schedule next season... But like I said, I'm not sure what week of the season. It could be week 1 like soc1011 said, but I was thinking it wasn't.

Valley QB may be out for the season is what we been hearing. (Hip issues) That would be a total shame for his senior season. He is a player and the Indians can not afford to lose him for a game, especially for the season.

Who are we? Are you close to the program or buying into the rumor mill? It would be tough losing Yates for the year but it won't be the end of the Indian's season.... 8)
While I agree that losing yates for the season does not end a season it does lower the chanches of an SOC title. Yates and his problems with his back/hip are all over southern Ohio, that is what happens when an elite player gets injured. I wish the kid a speedy recovery. As rumors go, sources in LV tell me that he has very little contact if any at all.........if the kid is injured they should heal him up and battle for a title in the SOC, it would be a shame to see him come back to quick and get injured early ending his season.

FIDO wrote:It will always be an uphill battle for Valley and an SOC II title......I agree, the task would be more difficult without Yates but not impossible....They have a good group of athletes in all grades.......I know the family and "IF" he is injured, he won't be playing.....Rightly so too!!

Does any of the valley insider have info on this? Normally VHS is popular on this board, but I have seen almost nothing about the team this year. Yates was wearing his jersey at the scrimmage with Portsmouth and was tossing a ball around and he looked to move fine to me (from a distance) I didn't notice any lack of movement, but then again he was doing anything to require him to make a football move either. I watched valley scrimmage Portsmouth, and i watched them several times last year and I can say not having Yates would definitely remove Valley from any mention of the SOC title. Basically it would be like taking Peyton Manning away from the Colts for an entire season, and removing the Colts best player in the secondary at the same time. Would be a massive blow to both the offense, and somewhat less to the defense. I know valley will play hard and fight for the entire season and I wish them luck.

P.S. I did not compare Yates to Peyton Manning, I just made the point that the loss of each player would be similar loss to their teams.

Blake has a back/hip issue from an AAU Basketball injury. He is a competitor and will be ready to play. He may not play this week, but he will play when the chips are on the table.

According to the PDT Keller had over 200 yards (105 rec, 110 rush) on 12 touches (5 rec, 7 rushes) and I know he had a big kick return, INT, and a handfull of tackles for a loss. He's been the best player on the field in all 3 of Valley's games so far this year. Yates threw some very good balls last night and spent most of his time in the pocket coming back from his injury, but he still showed some serious speed on his scramble for a TD. Valley started off sloppy but they quickly picked it up and their explosive offense was too much for Huntington... It was also good to see the D pick it up after Huntington went right down the field on their first possession. With a healthy Yates and Keller, I believe Valley has the 2 best skill players in the SOC. It will be interesting to see how the defense and the line plays the rest of the way... There are some young unproven players seeing some time but they have the talent to be very good players. Good way to get things started last night and great to see Mr Yates back on the field.
