Waverly 14

Waverly plays a BRUTAL schedule. Thier opponets are 38-12 after week 5.

From what I've been able to keep up with in the Portsmouth Daily Times, it seems like the Tigers throw the ball quite a bit. I'm not certain if that's by game plan or necessity with the aforementioned schedule they've faced. I believe their QB is a big, strong kid with some athleticism. I could be wrong, but I think he's capable of hurting teams with his arm if given the time.

All of that being said, I don't see any reason to think Valley's strong start slows down at all this week as they begin SOC play.

Yes waverlys schedule is tough and only a 6 team league having to schedule 5 out of league games, hard to find that 4th and 5th game of the yr when you go 10-0 9-1 and your trying to get computer points and nobody wants to play you, then the talent goes dry and your left with a brutal schedule, same thing happening at logan right now stuck with playing d1 and d2 schools with good programs and your bringing a knife to a gunfight.

Just out of curiousity, which non-league teams won't play Waverly? I realize that the teams they had in '06 and '07 were very good (and a lot of fun to watch, even from a rival school perspective), but this is year 4 and 5 removed from those teams now. I honestly would have thought that local non-league teams wouldn't base scheduling fears on those two teams. Granted, the Tigers did field a few solid teams in the early 2000's prior to those two playoff teams, with the most notable being the '02 playoff team and the '01 team that just missed making the playoffs. Plus, I've not heard anyone bring up playing in a 6 team league and having to schedule 5 non-league games as a problem before. I'm really curious who is ducking Waverly and why? They have had a couple rough years, but they won't stay down for long.

dont know if it was all ducking, I know greenup said no with an open date those 2 yrs, believe it was more of going for computer points, scheduling up, couldnt look at the svc schools already having piketon and westfall plays their pickaway schedule couldnt get computer points from anyone else, already play jackson and chilli wont schedule waverly believe that is more personal than anything, rest of the seoal schools committed to their schedule, shouldnt be any problem now to get games but you have to go through that rough spot.then it goes into the reverse problem you start getting better again and then your stuck with a weak schedule and not getting enough points out of games IE valley lost 2 games last yr and couldnt make the playoffs or maybe burg this yr 4-1 but have no second level points. Oak hill now, good for a couple of yrs and now stuck playing soc 2 schools, bad for them but even worse playoff wise for the teams playing them.

Definitely valid points. Location-wise, the SOC II schools are kind of in a chess match on a regular basis with non-league scheduling. The two surrounding leagues with comparable size schools, lack the overall consistency from top to bottom...not to mention playing too many in either league in the same year will only equal x-amount of points, even if one of those teams happens to be that league's top team that particular year. Obviously there are years where that won't always hold true and I mean no disrespect to those leagues, but I think we all recognize there is a difference. That then leaves the SEOAL and Ironton, along with the TVC. Again, only x-amount of games to go around. I know what you mean about trying to schedule schools such as Greenup. The "point-cow out of state schools" as several used to refer to them, became a pretty popular choice for a while and for some still is.....if you are fortunate enough to get the right one(s) on the schedule. I know most of the SOC 2 schools, including Waverly, have picked up teams from the Columbus area, the Cleveland area, the OVAC, the Cincy area, Coshocton and others just to find solid non-league games. Those games aren't necessarily a bad thing once a year or a home and home every so often, but hopefully they don't become scheduling "musts" in order to complete a full 10-game regular season each year. Those match-ups should be chosen for competition sake, rather than scheduled for desperation sake.

For all of my rambling, I really just look forward to seeing Waverly back to where they were and making the SOC II even stronger.

I see the Indians coming out on top on this one. Valley is just too skilled offensively to be stopped by a weaker Waverly team. Looking for Keller to have yet another big game in the running and maybe some in the passing game from Yates.

Waverly has a tough road the rest of the season with the soc2 schedule. Valley overwhelms the tigers in waverly. Waverly will have to play their game of the year to beat valley. Good luck to both schools

Waverly program has definitely seen better days. Waverly could not even beat Piketon. Valley scored 5 TD`s on Piketon in 2quarters of varsity play and that was without their 1st string QB Yates. Unless the weather is bad this game will be over at the end of the 1st quarter. Valley is averaging 40 plus points per game. They could score 70 on this team if the weather is good and they wanted to. I am hoping for a close game but I don`t see Waverly winning an SOC Game this year.

The point is this is the BLOW OUT of the night. I wish Waverly was better. They had a great run (06-07)but things tend to run in cycles.
