Week 5 Chesapeake @ West
Re: Week 5 Chesapeake @ West
I'll take West but would like to see them play all 4 qtrs. from this game to our last. this looks like the last easy game "none is really easy" but we will have to come out fired up and ready to play from start of 1st to last second of the remaining games or might not be as good of season as we have hoped for. Things do look better though adjust the pass defence a little and it will be almost impossible for other teams to score on us. Not no coach by far but would like to see some short passes to build the young QBs confidence some. roll him out. Not second guessing the coach he knows how to win that is why Im on here and he is on the field. Best coach Ive seen for a long time hope he stays for a long time WEST-38 peak-13

I think West will win this, because I don't think this is a very good chesapeake team, probably not as good as last years (no offense to anyone, and we aren't as good either obviously), but they West can't seem to get together. They did against Rock Hill for the last 15 mins and scored 18 unanswered points, had multiple pass breakups, and one interception...they've done this every game...they would be 4-0 if it wasn't for them playing the last 15 mins of games. Its like they have been forgetting what they had learned the previous games, and they showed that you can't do this against halfway decent teams (Portsmouth), and if they do this against any team in the Soc, maybe even Northwest, they will get beat. But, like I had said in every post they are young, and hopefully they start to click and carry over some success. West 35 Peake 13
Re: Week 5 Chesapeake @ West
Offensive line is getting better. The second half especially, West seemed to really knock a bigger RH d-line off the ball.
Pass coverage looked terrible the first half friday. The second half they settled down and played alot better. DB's need to start looking for the football. Besides the occasional tight end down the middle, we probably won't see much passing friday. Pass coverage must get better before Waverly next week though. They'll pick us apart in those 4 and 5 wide sets.
I like Ratliff at safety. He has size and good instincts. When he came in, our pass defense seemed alot better and his interception was a big play in the game.
Would like to see Journey play some corner. He's got the build for it and is a good tackler for run support.

portsmouth west will win if they can play 3 good quarters if they come out flat in the first half, expect a close game once again for west.

Everyone in Scioto and Lawrence counties knows #8 is getting the ball. Why not throw it once in awhile? Would this not help open the running game up more? Short passes would be a start. A young quarterback, but he throws a good ball and can see over the line. Backs in the flat maybe? Tightend pop pass? You have to throw the football or every team here on out is gonna put 11 in the box and we can not win. If you throw it short, quick out, hooks, slants, etc. the D has to repect it or they will get burnt. Why roll a QB to the short side of the field throwing acrossed his body? I am confused. 1 to 3 passes a game? I know there are kids that can catch the ball. This style of football is what kills Ironton when they make a run in the playoffs. They pound you with big backs all year then they face a team that is as big and they stop the run. I am not comparing West to Ironton and it is not a shot at our Coach. I am using them as an example. I like the fire that our Coach shows but for Pete's sake throw the darn football! Our QB's are young and if you want them and the team to get better air it out.

exactly. We are going to have to pass the ball some to win the league. A 70-30 mix of run/pass would keep the Defense somewhat honest. The offensive line is not big enough to consistantly knock the other team off the football when they stack the box. We need to mix it up a little. Truth be known, we could probably beat Chesapeake if we promise to not throw the ball. But we will never beat Minford or Burg without mixing it up a little, let alone the playoffs. I'm a big coach supporter, and I know he's trying to build from the O-line out, but you can't not let Ratliff get some game confidence and then expect him to produce when you need him too. Get him some reps this week. Games get alot harder after this one.

West could lose 3 in a row after this one.

All you ever talk about is West losing or not being good. I know you are a big OVC fan so why don't you quit spending your time dogging West and spend it talking to the OVC AD's and schedule SOC 1 teams cause you can't beat SOC2 teams
