Newark Catholic and Bishop Ready in the same season. Those are great additions to the schedule. Hopefully other TVC Ohio teams will take that lead. I have heard there are talks of Athens scheduling some D2 and D3 playoff teams including possibly Logan, and Col Watterson or Col DeSales. Will the other teams in the Ohio take that lead? With Alexanders' recent success I would think they will start to schedule up?

Interesting, this will give Ironton and Nelsonville a common opponent next year as Ready is supposedly coming to Ironton on week 6

Motivator,
Didnt you hear the news. Alex dropped Trimble to pick up Miller. While both are D6 Trimble usually is able to provide many more points to teams if you can beat them. Personally, I don't think Athens or Alex is worried about scheduling up. It seems NY, Trimble, Vinton, and the Lancers are really the only teams willing to schedule up and play quality opponents. Unfortunately, for three of the four it didn't workout well this year, but I am sure it will help them down the road.

This will make six home games for NY next season. Is Bishop Ready a one year or two year deal?

NY has played Bishop Ready twice and the series is tied:

Series tied 1 win, 1 loss
1991 Nelsonville-York (H) 20-14
2007 Bishop Ready (A) 47-0

Updated NY schedule for 2010:

Week 1 - TRIMBLE
Week 2 - NEWARK CATHOLIC
Week 3 - @ Berne Union
Week 4 - COLUMBUS BISHOP READY
Week 5 -
Week 6 - @ Wellston*
Week 7 - MEIGS*
Week 8 - @ Vinton County*
Week 9 - ALEXANDER*
Week 10 - ATHENS*

Any word on a week 5 opponent??

The Buckeyes have only played a total of 9 games all-time against private schools and 2010 will be the first time NY has ever played two private schools in one season.

The Buckeyes are 2-7 all-time when playing private schools.

NY's records vs. private schools.......

Columbus Academy
Academy leads all-time series 1 win, 0 losses
2006 Columbus Academy (#H) 55-21

Columbus Bishop Ready
Series tied 1 win, 1 loss
1991 Nelsonville-York (H) 20-14
2007 Bishop Ready (A) 47-0

Columbus St. Charles
St. Charles leads all-time series 2 wins, 0 losses
1999 St. Charles (A) 35-7
2000 St. Charles (H) 19-6

Zanesville Rosecrans
Rosecrans leads all-time series 3 wins, 1 loss
1970 Rosecrans (A) 27-0
1971 Rosecrans (H) 35-13
1972 Rosecrans (A) 18-13
1973 Nelsonville-York (H) 60-0

Newark Catholic and Ready in 2010, good upgrade of schedule. Both games are at home so hold serve and many playoff points will come your way even with them being DV and DVI schools because between them they will win 15 or more games next year. :)

I know this is not an all-inclusive list, but the OHSAA website lists these schools as having an open date in Week 5 -

Toronto (H) 09/28/2009
Gaston (IN) Wes-Del, contact Steve Boozier, 765-358-4091. Looking for DV or DVI opponent 10/01/2009
Grove City Christian, contact Coach Lucas, 614-563-6088 10/12/2009
St. Clairsville (H) 10/14/2009
Findlay (H) 10/16/2009
Nelsonville-York 10/21/2009
Cleveland East 11/10/2009

I think two private schools on the schedule is more than enough, so I hope NY doesn't play Grove City Christian. I think St. Clairsville or Toronto would be decent matchups. Both have had good teams in the past, but Toronto has been down lately I do believe.

Grove City Christian is a MUCH improved program who got more than just a little help from the levy NOT passing in Grove City.

It will be interesting to see what happens there with Grove City getting their program back on track. Will they still be a power or will they drop off? Just food for thought.

Looks like the Buckeyes are going to start the season out 0-4. Why schedule up when you are gonna get beat. They MAY and I do stress MAY beat Berne Union.

1 & 0 is how it will start!!!!!!

NY will have some exciting games next year. Trimble fans should worry more about the boredom in their own schedule. Trimble plays NY week one and then it's all down hill in excitement from there. Boring blowouts over Eastern, Southern, Miller, South Gallia, etc. could have fans falling asleep by half time.

Let's see........all the excitement in the beginning and then boredom afterwards.......in sex, that is called premature ejaculation! Trimble has a premature ejaculation schedule! ;)

guys tomcatfan is not from trimble. he is from eastern. pm me if you need more info. he likes to get on here and say things that makes trimble look arrogant. no real trimble fan is on here saying we will for sure beat nelsonville i can promise you that. i agree trimble's schedule will be boring. but nothing we can do about inept ad's that vote in a bad team. wahama is a great pickup and will not be boring. belpre will improve and will be a good match up. the ad is at work now trying to finish the schedule. who knows who he will come up with next.

Yes they did, their lone loss was to Rosecrans in their regular season by a score of 10-7. GCC would get their revenge in the first round of the play-offs though by beating Rosecrans 28-0.

There goes Sherlock Holmes again talking out the side of his neck. Just because I am proud of being a Trimble fan and voice it you say I am from another school. I think you need to buy some chapstick after all of that butt kissing you did on your last post. May as well say that the Luckeyes are gonna walk all over the Cats. Just because I can't name the nephew of the trainers sons first cousin doesn't mean I am not a Cat fan. And I am sticking to my 0-4 prediction for NY for the beginning of the year. :122246

OHSAA is listing a new open game for week 5 next year......

Juneau (AK) Thundermountain, contact Bill Byouer, [email protected] 12/01/2009

Not sure why an Alaska team is looking to play an Ohio team?
