Athens grad Kurt Roberts breaks National Record in Shotput

Ashland Univerisity Junior and Athens High School grad Kurt Roberts had a throw of 64' 4.5" at the Akron track and field invitational this past saturday. He outdistanced the #3 thrower in the country from Penn State and the best throwers from the MAC. The throw is 3/4 of an inch further than any throw in the history of NCAA Division II . As of 2/14/10 Kurt has the second best throw amongst all NCAA competitors , only trailing a Senior shotputter from Arizona State who had a monster throw of 69' plus feet.

2006 Athens grad, and current juniorAshland University Junior won his second NCAA division II national championship in the shotput with a throw of 64' 11 1/2", shattering the DII record. He was also awarded "Field Athlete of the Year" Kurt will be participating in the "All Ohio Meet" at Ohio University April 17th. The following is a summary of Kurt's current Rankings at the end of this years indoor season.

kurt finished his senior indoor season with another National Championship in New Mexico to follow up his gold medal at the under 23 North,Central America Championships this past July in Miami..Kurt is in the midst of his outdoorseason preparing with anticipation of another National Championship, along with an inivitation to the US nationals this summer..Kurt is a 2006 graduate of Ahens High School
