DEAR IRONTON FANS!!!!!!!!!
With the recent success of our Mens and Womens basketball programs, i am disappointed in the lack of attendance from our fans. We as a group need to all decide on a color (suggestion is Orange) to wear as a whole. If you noticed Peebles had the sea of Red. We need a sea of ORANGE at the Convo tuesday night and at The Schott on Thursday. Now can we please spread the word to all fans to please wear ORANGE in support...COME ON NOW PEOPLE..OUR GIRLS ARE 2 WINS AWAY FROM BRINGING A STATE TITLE BACK TO IRONTON! OUR GUYS ARE 4 WINS AWAY..LETS GET ROWDY!!!!!!!
WHO DEY!!!!!!!
GO FIGHTING TIGERS!

Ah the young feeling slighted?Notice the crowds on friday nights at the football games?
If you cant pack the Tank what makes you think your gonna pack a basketball arena?
Here are some facts, which hurts from time to time.
Fact is this town is OLD.Why?No more industry, jobs are sparse, you yourself a while back looked forever for a job.
Our city leaders for years let things leave... The Tacklebox just recently moved to South Point.
As a Tiger Clan member I see who comes to our meetings/works to raise monies for our Athletes.
Id say we have 15 guys who actually work/sell split the pot/Tiger Clan drawing tickets. The monies raised from these offset costs to the Athletic Department, buys our kids meals, gives them ways to earn scholarships so on so forth.Of those 15 guys wanna know how many actually have kids playing sports.....2.Wanna know how many of these 15 went to Ironton....2,and not the 2 with kids playing. My opinion is if we had more people we could raise more monies for our kids.
Now as for the fans most of us work day jobs and its hard to just take off,me Im taking a personal day.
If we have a big crowd so be it,if we have a small one we will still be loud,Fact!
Go Lady Tigers!

Good post. Most of the towns and villages along the Ohio River are in the same boat, very old with a lot of tradition but no newcomers because of jobs with the old industry and old money gone as the "elders" die off and the kids move away after graduation. Sad but true.

Re: DEAR IRONTON FANS!!!!!!!!!
Good luck Ironton! I agree, support these young men and ladies the best you can in their quests to bring home state titles!!!

Re: DEAR IRONTON FANS!!!!!!!!!
This is not meant to be a harmful post in any way, but adams county is one of the poorest counties in the state and we have to travel almost the farthest ( if not the farthest? correct me if im wrong ) to the convo..Peebles and manchester have both had amazing crowds ( especially if you take into account the size of our towns ). It is sad if your fans are not showing up to support your teams, i'm sure some have great reasons, but just keep in mind those of you fans that are there can still keep your team motivated....We ( manchester ) always have our student section and on the other side we have some older kids that paint their faces and do all kinds of crazy stuff ( i'm one of them lol ) and between us we get and keep the whole crowd going the whole game....last week we had about 10 people paint their faces blue and gold and 4 of us ( myself included ) painted our faces like kiss and wore our graduation caps and gowns....The crowd, team, convo staff everyone loved it....i'm not saying you have to go to these extremes lol, but im sure you can find a way to keep your teams motivated while they play.....just food for thought, best of luck with your upcoming games....you should be very proud to have 2 teams playing for the state title

Re: DEAR IRONTON FANS!!!!!!!!!
Maybe the late game times are a factor. I don't look for Wednesday's game to be any different, crowd-wise.
Re: DEAR IRONTON FANS!!!!!!!!!
I have to agree w/houndfan. Those aren't excuses.....take pride in your town and support your kids. Oak Hill has NO industry compared to Ironton and they don't have the population that Ironton does....but you can bet that 2 hours before the game they are going to be there waiting in line to get into the game.
Get behind these kids...show some pride in their accomplishments.

Re: DEAR IRONTON FANS!!!!!!!!!
Not likely but wouldn't it be crazy if Ironton won State for Boys AND Girls. I am in no way an Ironton fan but even I think that would be cool. Go Ironton. Go SEOAL. Go SEO.
Re: DEAR IRONTON FANS!!!!!!!!!
I will tell you another thing to think about!!! As an official, I travel to alot of these places mentioned above (Adams County), and most of the schools games have a "flagship" station. I live in the Ironton area and I'm very disappointed with the media coverage around Ironton. If you go 6 miles out 93, WIRO is gone!!!! 6 MILES from town! I was scanning for a game recently, and I picked up a game out of Columbus. It was an AM station. But yesterday WLGC 105.7 was covering the KHSAA State Tournament. Don't get me wrong, Jason Philyaw and Jeff Lynn do a great job, and it isn't their fault, but d*m people, with the economy and price of gas, sometimes the radio is all people have. Russell, Ashland and other local schools are on good powerful stations, and most of those programs aren't as successful as Ironton or Chesapeake this year.
Sorry, but this is a real good issue to findout why we lose "our hometown" station less than 6 miles out of town!! Wiro operates on a 65 watt light bulb as Carl Gene Large used to say! Maybe we need a HALAGON bulb in there!
