Cole Grove wins pitching duel 2-0

Post by sonny »

What a pitching performance by two of the area's top pitchers . Sparks gets the win with an outstanding performance on the mound with 18 k's limiting Fairland to 2 hits. The kid is clutch and I have heard he is going to sign at Xavier. Thackston, a sophomore, also pitched a gem with 19 k's. The young kid AGAIN was money on the mound. Two errors cost Fairland from going into extra innings. It has been a while since we have seen a kid as young as Thackston pitch so well, probably since Michael Hill from Fairland, but Sparks steals the show with a dominating performance.

what a classic.type of game when someone got on base for either team you held your breath with suspense because you knew not many runs would score throughout the game.also, watching sparks the older and more experienced of the two vs. the sophomore thackston who is the up and comer.sparks has become an extremely talented and all around pitcher.no question he is going to the next level.as for thackston, only being a sophomore the upside is tremendous.19 k's in one game!!!!amazing!!!type of classic that it was a shame one of them had to lose.

Game reminds of a few years ago when CG and Fairland played at Fairland CG won 2-1. That was a game pitched by a senior in Pemberton from CG 17K's that night and Hill sophomore I think 18 k's. Pemberton went to Wright State and Michael ended up at Cincy. Hope the same for these two young men.
