Its going to be a tall task obviously to beat Philly. I think they are clearly the best team in the NL, but in baseball anything can happen. I think the Reds let a good opportunity slip away (especially with SD beating SF 2 out of 3 this weekend) by not grabbing a couple more wins and securing that 2 seed. But what's done is done.

A couple of bright spots for the Reds:

*Short series probably favors the underdog
*The Reds have enough lefties in the bullpen to hopefully neutralize a couple of Phillies big bats like Howard and Utley late in games (Chapman, Bray, Rhodes, and probably Wood should all be available out of the pen)
*The Reds usually don't produce a lot of runs without the home run. This series home or away will be played in hitters ball parks. If they played SF, or SD this would not be the case.

I would be VERY happy to see the Reds win one game out of the two to start out with in Philadelphia. The Reds would have to come back home and beat Philly in two games which I really believe Cincy can do. The fans and town of Cincinnati will be crazy and create a definate homefield advantage. The Reds just gotta keep it close and work some of that late game magic.

Also I think the key players will be Gomes, Stubbs, and Rolen. Philly will not let Votto,Phillips, and Bruce beat them and the three players I mentioned will have to step up and make the plays on offense. I'm not worried about the D, I think all around Cincinnati is much better on the Defensive side of things while Philly is better on Offense.

Game 1 - the Reds beat Halladay once this year, and Wood almost had a perfect game against him the other game they played. So, he can be beaten.

True, but this was while he was with the Astros. Clearly he will have more run support from that Phillies line-up. Not doubting, just saying. LET'S GO REDLEGS!!!!!

He may or may not have more run support and he gave up 9 runs in the two games he faced the Reds this year. Also, four of the games between the Reds and Phillies have been decided by one run or less with two of those scores being 1-0 and the Phillies are only batting .230 against the Reds.

If you look at the stats, this series does not seem to be as much of a blowout as the analyst are making it be. Yeah the Phillies have all the big names but can they back it up? If you ask me they have been wrong before when they picked St. Louis to win the Central. Cincinnati has nothing to lose, we wasn't even expected to be here. The Phillies have everything to lose with everyone saying they have an easy ride to the World Series and some even comparing them to the Big Red Machine ( I believe those same people need to be staying away from the narcotics)

Very true. I was just stating that 2-0 vs. Oswalt against with the Astros as it pertains to this series. I'm as confident as anyone that we can pull this series out. I have waited a long 21 years to know what it's like to root for a winning Reds team.

Im right there with you. I just cant get over these analyst pretty much saying it wont be close. Maybe it wont and maybe I dont know what I am talking about but I have a feeling this young Reds team will just keep fighting and getting wins. The largest margin of victory in the series during the regular season is owned by the Reds and the rest of the games were as close as they can be. And as Dusty said during the press conference, they want to say our pitchers dont have any experience in the playoffs and may crack under the pressure? There are no more pressure filled games than when you are pitching in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, etc. where you pitch to live so what is the MLB playoffs compared to that? 2 out of the Reds 3 starters this series have been in those situations and Bronson has pitched in the playoffs and World Series!

Dont think the REds can beat a team like phillies in the post season with 3 #1 starters like they have also oswalt was called the reds killer over the yrs. But they also have to play the games so go Reds.
