I think they should win league also. Valley could potentially give them a run for their money though.B-dawg79 wrote:i think that they have a great chance to win the league in the upcoming season

I think the season will come down to who else steps up for the tigers we know Kretzer is one of the top players in the state but to reach there potential at least two other player need to step up and give the team some more options. They are a talented group and if every thing works out could make a nice run at state this year.
Re: waverly 2011-2012
I look for Waverly to have a fine season. I think Waverly and Chillicothe will be the cream of the crop in D2 in SEO.
Re: waverly 2011-2012
The Tigers have a talented core group, will need a couple kids to step up. No way do you replace a Harrison Martin but the Tigers need someone to fill the gap. They only had 8 at the Waverly Shootout, hopefully some of the other kids are showing up for other activities. Kretzer, Kelly, White, Ward & Hensley started the games I was able to see and looked pretty good.

good core group to return. tigers need a point guard. lack of point killed them last year. see if anyone developed over the summer.

Jean Paul White looked pretty good when I watched them play this summer.RxBurgFan wrote:good core group to return. tigers need a point guard. lack of point killed them last year. see if anyone developed over the summer.
Re: waverly 2011-2012
Ward is a physical beast and usually defended the opponents best offensive threat last season, look for the same in 11/12. Would like to see some kids come back out who didn't play last season.

Waverly needs an inside man to help replace Martin, when you lose a thousand point scorer and 4 year starter it is tough to replace. They return Kelly and Kretzer who have been on varsity since the ninth grade as well as White and Ward who both started last year. The team should be in a battle to win the league along with Valley, Oak Hill, Webster, and Burg. Lets just hope everyone worked hard over the summer to improve.

On the inside their will be a two headed monster in Sammy "Hammy" Hensley and Zach "THE HAMMER" Corcoran. Also Corcoran has Range! 3 Balls! Sam can't shoot however. but is bigger and stronger than corcoran
Re: waverly 2011-2012
You all are funny. Robertson couldnt win when he had 4 division one athletes on the team. He couldnt win last year with kretzer and Harrison Martin. Now all of a sudden this year without Martin hes gonna win. Not a chance.
Re: waverly 2011-2012
Wow but hard to argue. I have never sat and thought about that end of it he did have 4 at one time.
Re: waverly 2011-2012
GOINDIANS,
Who were the 4 division 1 basketball players Robertson had on the team at one time? I've been involved with Waverly basketball way before Robertson took over and I can't name them.
Here's what I can tell you:
Walls graduated in 2008 and plays football for New Mexico State - was not offered a D1 in basketball that I know of.
Roback graduated in 2010 and plays football for Ohio University - was not offered a D1 in basketball that I know of.
Martin graduated this year, 2011, and will be attending Youngstown State and playing baseball - will probably redshirt.
Kretzer will graduate in 2012 and has verbaled to Akron to play basketball.
Looks to me like Kretzer is the only D1 basketball player from Waverly so far during Robertson's tenure and he was in 8th grade when Walls was a Senior. Martin was a freshman that year and Roback was a sophomore.
So, who were the 4 D1's who played on the same team?

Re: waverly 2011-2012
Four division 1 athletes. Walls, Roback, Martin, and Remy who is playing soccer at OSU. Didnt say 4 division 1 basketball players, said athletes. Irregardless if you dont agree that Robertson has had more talent than anyone in the soc in the last four years, I dont know how to help you.

GOINDIANS,
When Walls was a Senior (Robertson's first year) Roback was a sophomore (hardly a basketball star) while Martin was a Freshman (very green and naturally not half as good as he was his senior year). Not sure what grade Remy was that year, don't remember him playing varisty ball. Here is a link to the men's soccer roster at OSU http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports ... r-mtt.html
I don't see Remy on it.
You are drawing at straws to say Waverly was LOADED with D1 athletes that year.
I'm not saying that year wasn't very dissapointing, it was. We all had high expectations with the talent we thought we had with 10 seniors but it didn't work out.
If we're going to play the, "D1 athletes lead to wins", game then we can say the injuries in recent years have lead to losses. We probably beat Oak Hill and South Webster at home two years ago and win the league with Martin in the line-up. We did beat SW badly at their place earlier in the season with Martin.
Martin was hurt again this past season and other sicknesses lead to kids sitting out. Martin and Kretzer both missed the Oak Hill game and the kids played their hearts out.
Waverly has won their D2 Sectional the past two years, something Waverly hadn't done in a while and while we were disappointed in not beating Logan Elm (2 years ago) and Warren (this past season) in the District semi's we are confident Waverly basketball is improving while Robertson matures as a young coach.
