Chillicothe get's an old fashion Harry Carey "Holy Cow!"
I talked some people in Chilly last night and found out they rounded their 2012 schedule this week with Dayton Thurgood Marshall.
Chilly's non-league schedule for 2012:
Hamilton Township
Big Walnut
Portsmouth West
Dayton Thurgood Marshal
St. Francis Desales
The Desales game leads Chilly into league action on the road the following week at Gallia Academy. I would challenge anyone to have a schedule this tough.

This might be the worst thing that could happen to Chilli and coach Hinton. Someone is setting this team up for failure. I'm all for challenges but give me a break. This program is looking to turn things around not get buried in the ground. if they are 1-4 or 2-3 after this it will be a miracle.

It is pretty unbelieveable in it not? 2-3 and win out in the seoal probably would give Chilly a home playoff game Good Luck CAVS!!!!sibibis45 wrote:This might be the worst thing that could happen to Chilli and coach Hinton. Wow.... Chilly has the potential to go 0-10 this year. Not a good decision to play a few of these teams. Losses and injuries.
Re: Chillicothe get's an old fashion Harry Carey "Holy Cow!"
Yeah, best of luck. Too tough IMO
I do like the PWest and Big Walnut or HT scheduling.

If you want to be the best you have to play the best. I say congratulations and good luck!!! Maybe they will surprise everyone and go 5-0 for the first half of the season. Anything can happen.
Re: Chillicothe get's an old fashion Harry Carey "Holy Cow!"
Wow! Not exactly the most intelligent job of scheduling to say the least.

Re: Chillicothe get's an old fashion Harry Carey "Holy Cow!"
Challenging non league ??? Lets see...Chilli recently played Brookhaven, Big Walnut, Sheridan, Logan, Wilmington, etc in non league and then, not so recently ago played Upper Arlington, Grove City, Pickerington Central, Watterson, Ironton, Zanesville, Dublin Scioto, Olentangy, Olentangy Liberty, Gallia, Jackson, Scrimmaged St Charles, Reynoldsburg, Portsmouth, Steubenville, Thomas Worthington, Cincinnati Colerain, etc. So this ype of lineup is to be expected. Hamilton Township is average at best, Portsmouth West is strong, Dayton Thurgood Marshall ?????? Desales is a beast, and Big Walnut is an average OCC team anymore. Chilli has beat them and should have won last year, The last year Chilli went to the playoffs Chilli played 8 playoff teams..Brookhaven, Sheridan, Big Walnut, Ironton, Gallia, Logan, Canal Winchester, and Logan Elm winning the bold games. Scheduling for Chilli is tough...not many teams in area want to play so we travel from the river tio Dayton to Columbus and beyond to find games. FACE IT,,,the enrollment at Chilli is dwindling for many reasons ( land locked, no new homes, kids leaving to go to other schools due to building conditions, educational opportunities, lack of control in the high school and middle school.. This means that sports that take numbers to survive will struggle....Cavs fans must accept this or find a way to turn around the issues so we dont lose 100s of open enrollment kids to the surrounding districts and find a way to make Chillicothe attractive again to entice oprn enrollment here,
Re: Chillicothe get's an old fashion Harry Carey "Holy Cow!"
Dayton Thurgood Marshall lost to the state runner-up by 10 on the road, lost to the state champion by 6 on the road, were a playoff team last year graduating just 8 seniors. Chilli crushed by Wilmington three years ago 55-10. Have not beaten Brookhaven since '06 (including our last playoff year). Lost the last 4 out of 5 to Big Walnut (playoff team last 6 out of 8 years-not so average occ school). Lost to sheridan at home 33-19 in '08 (playoff year). Lost to Watterson. Lost Ironton 4 out of the last five times they have played. Lost 3 out of last 4 to HT. And as for those other OCC schools we have not beaten many of them in the last 6 to 10 years, hence why Chilli left the OCC. That is a whole lot of losing against high quality competition. What does this accomplish? It leads to nonsense feelings about it being the coaches fault, kids not believing they can win, and a whole bunch of people telling themselves, "well we were great in pee-wee and Jr. High, the coaches must suck at the varsity level because they never win." This creates a mentality of losing that is hard to remove from your program. Scheduling a possible 0-5 non-league schedule when you play in a competitive league can only continue this loser mentality. Scheduling has nothing to do with enrollment.Hopsing wrote:Challenging non league ??? Hamilton Township - Average
Big Nut - Good
West - Bad
Marshall - Great
Desales - Great
By Chillicothe schedule standards, this is a pretty normal schedule. Not sure what the big deal is this year? The program is a lot worse now than it was 5 years ago so maybe they wont do so great but this is nothing new for Chillicothe. Just 6 years ago, they'd play Brrokhaven, Logan, couple OCC schools, and then get into the OCC conference schedule. Again, don't know what the big deal is. Chillicothe, along with Logan, has the toughest schedule in SEO every year. That's why, despite win-loss record, they routinely put more players in D1 then almost everyone else.

no offense to West either, by SEO, small school standards they are pretty good. They will probably beat Chilli next year also. I'm just saying, by Chillicothe scheduling standards, they are one of the worst teams we've scheduled in as long as I can remember.

Say what you want about that schedule, but 6-4 gets them in the playoffs. 7-3 and they might host a game.

Do not worry Pride, the people i talk to in the program know this is a tough game on Chilli's schedule. The coaching staff knows West is an outstanding program and will bring the wood against Chilli this fall.West Side Pride wrote:Your right, Hillsboro was much better last year.datchillicav wrote:no offense to West either, by SEO, small school standards they are pretty good. Re: Chillicothe get's an old fashion Harry Carey "Holy Cow!"
The point you are missing is to continue to schedule three to five losses before you get into the league is not the way to improve a program that has a loser, blame the coaches mentality. If you read the previuos posts you will see that all this "scheduling up" has brought Chilli is a whole bunch of losses, a mentality that keeps some athletes from playing football because the mental and physical commitment is deemed not worth it, and a loser mentality amongst the players, parents, and fans. And what has this "scheduling up" gained?- five playoff appearences in school history?- one playoff win in school history? The kids, the coaches, the community, the program as a whole need to be able to build some confidence and momentum if they are ever going to build anything substantial as far as a football program is concerned. Your assessment of the schedule is a little skewed as well- HT-average?- we have lost three out of the last four against them-P-West will probably be a playoff team this year-Looking in the mirror-we are not a school of 1200 kids anymore! The high school has just a over 800 kids in it now! Stop thinking that Chilli has all this DI talent spilling out everywhere! We do not! Chilli has to learn how to win before it can move on with program building. This schedule is not conducive to learning how to win. That is what the big deal is.datchillicav wrote:Hamilton Township - Average
