Jackson 5 @ Minford 2...8 innings

Whew! The Ironladies do it again!

Both teams were scoreless through 5 with a complete contrast of pitching. Minford was led by the powerful Kelsey Conkey throwing absolute gas striking out I think 10 through 5...seemed like more. Her ball was exploding out of her hand. On the flipside Jackson pitched the 4'11 Kelly Hughes who had only pitched 3 2/3 innings this season. Hughes placed the ball well and only gave up I think 3 or 4 hits through 6+.

In the 6th both teams broke through. Jackson scored 1 run and Minford tied it up on a shallow ball to deep 2nd/RCF that fell between 4 Ironladies. In the 7th Jackson scored a second run and had Minford with two outs and a 1-2 count and the Minford player shot one right down the RF line to tie it.

In the 8th Jackson showed their moxy. With 1 out senior Jessica Webb works a fantastic walk and advanced to 2nd on a passed ball. With 2 strikes and two out Kelly Hughes laced a single to CF to take a 3-2 lead. Cleanup hitter Kari Jenkins knocked Hughes in and freshman Sam Humphreys lined a single to knock in Jenkins to make it 5-2....Kacee Jenkins pitched the 8th for her 13th win of the year.

A well-played game by Minford....would NOT want to face Conkey in the tournament. Good Luck to them.
