Jackson Coach Heath McKinniss Resigns
Jackson Coach Heath McKinniss Resigns
Coach Heath McKinniss resigned after two years at the helm of the Jackson basketball program. He did a very good job preparing his team for each matchup and put in countless hours. I feel he did a good job.
Jackson lost almost all of their offense to graduation. I've heard some former players might be coming back (with McKinniss coaching) and a transfer that sat out last year who is a pretty good player.
Not sure who might be interested in coaching. I'm not sure the JV won a game last year.
I'll throw out some names for fun....
Dan Fulks....if he would want it, he should get it.
Eric Evans....Jackson grad who has built up the Circleville program.
Chad Carpenter....several years assisting in the Jackson program.
Max Morrow.....Former standout basketball player for Jackson and assisted in the program a few years.
??? Great facilities and a lot of younger talent in the biddy leagues to develop for the future.

Very late in the year to be hiring a new coach. The BOE should ammend their rule for one year and let Phil Howard or Scott Lowe coach the team. They are both admin. Actually best move is hire Phil as HC and Scott as Assistant.

Go young, take a guy who will dedicate 7 to 10 years at the least to build a program.

Hey Sid.....I just listed some names of guys with a little history at Jackson....no need for your post. There's no reason this thread can't have a little discussion about potential replacements.

Wow. That's a surprise. He's worked very hard at Jackson. Hate to hear that.

I92, you could list some reasonable names. Morrow would be a joke! He needs to be at home growing old with his wife and little Kip. He doesn't have time to be coaching!

Phil would love to have you....though your resume includes going a notch further than he did....so he may not like that. Lol

Do they have any outside candidates with Jackson ties? Anyone out there that is a head coach somewhere else with Jackson ties? I know someone mentioned a kid from Circleville....

I think you folks are forgetting an obvious candidate. NJ Kight!!! He has an inside track to the job with his father being the AD. Spent a year assisting Coach Combs at VC to prepare him for the role. Doesn't have a wife or kid (like Morrow) to tie him down. Furthermore, he will probably never be able to land a wife so he will have plenty of time to focus on the basketball program. He is the best choice for the job at this late time.

Re: Jackson Coach Heath McKinniss Resigns
I have two words that seem appropriate. BIG LOSS! Heath worked his butt off and even though I think the cubbard is pretty empty the next year or so, he fought to keep the job and try to build something. This place has been such a revolving door for basketball coaches it's embarassing!! The decission to get rid of Coach May has been a bad one ever since untill Heath came along and was making posititve strides. This is going to be a tough job no matter who takes it.
Re: Jackson Coach Heath McKinniss Resigns
im PO! this stinks to high heaven. why would he resign in june? he coach his butt off and work very hard to restablish a program that he wasnt recieveing support for but he work hard anyway. i hope the truth comes out.
