Biggest surprise?

How about the number of teams with medicore records.

Southeastern (11-11)
Meigs (10-11)
Crooksville (11-12)
North Adams (13-10)
Lynchburg-Clay (12-11)

* not sure I ever remember that many in one district tournament

wow..... not much love for Ironton, huh? A team that doesn't lose to anyone in Ohio, or within 700 miles of the state who has an average margin of victory of just over 20 points per game...... Only 4 teams (outside the 2 Florida losses) within single digits; 2 pt. @ Portsmouth in 2nd game of season, 9 pts. against Eastmoor (DII - #7 in Columbus), 9 Akron Bucthel (DII - #2 seed), and 9 against (Hunt., WV).

To each their own I guess, but it looks like there are some people who appearantly think Ironton's run through everyone, not listed as a Florida 8A school, is somehow a fluke?!? I guess we will see :122248 :122248 :122248

It's called "March Madness" my friend. Makes it fun and interesting if one of them can pull off the upset.

Seriously? I believe everyone that knows basketball understand Ironton has been the favorite since last year...all summer...all pre-season...all season. You won't find any team looking past them. Right now...nobody cares who you played and what the scores were....its win or go home.....I'm sure every team is thinking that right now.

1981 Piketon up against state ranked Ironton pulls off a major upset, the Redsreaks only had a couple of wins. After the game Piketon wanted to cut down the nets, but it was only sectional semi finals and they wouldnt let them. Portsmouth later sent a net to Piketon for knocking off the Tigers! Lol

That's because about half the teams get to the Convo. I remember when the sectional was actually a tournament. Now if you win one game, you're in the districts. Pathetic!

That's what I was getting at though..... obviously 21% percent of the people on here who voted either: A) don't know basketball (as you put it) , B) think Ironton is a fluke, or C) just can't stand Ironton and don't know how to make rational decisions

I guess I was just surprised to see that many people think Ironton will get bounced early....

Ironton fans have a right to be upset I guess...but what does this poll matter really? Its opinion, of fans, a lot of us have loyalty to another school in the poll, otherwise we wouldnt have clicked on the topic.

With that said, Ironton is a one seed, and probably the "overall" one seed in the SE District.....but every game matters. Think about the NCAA tournament, how many times have you seen a VCU/ Norfolk St knock off a Duke, UNC, Mich State? Anything can happen, every matchup is different, these are kids....they can be affected easily. When I played ball there was a gym in the SVC that when I walked into it, the lighting seemed yellow instead of bright, and I couldnt shoot worth a darn there. The Convo is a huge place, with different backgrounds and sounds, throw in the adrenaline, excitement and the fans....and you never know what could happen.

Im just going to enjoy a day full of basketball in a great atmosphere, and sure I will be pulling for the SVC schools, but if they dont win....thats okay too....I love the game!
