This will be the first ever meeting between these two schools with a District title game birth on the line.

... I look for Coach Combs' Vikings to come out of the opening tip with the same defensive intensity that they showed vs FU in sectional action ... I watched Fairland lose to Chesapeake last weekend, the 'peake played hard-nosed defense for 32 minutes against FHS holding the Dragons to 31 points ... CHS won the game but does not have anywhere the offensive firepower that Vinton County will bring to the court Friday night ... Fairland played 7 vs CHS, Vinton Co. played 10 different players vs FU in the sectional at Logan ... I like Vinton County in this matchup ...

Interesting game......Fairland has a hideous bus trip, but this should be an even game for the most part. I could see this one going to OT.

Let me flip my coin.

I am a true Vinton County Viking fan. Kind of adopted Fairland as my second favorite team in 2012 at the Beast of the Southeast tournament. Sat with the Maddox boys father and loved the style of Fairland bball. This will be a great game as Fairland is quick and have 2 really good point guards. I think VC will prevail if they play the same style game as they did against FU. 58 seems to be the magic number for this game. Lets see who gets there!!!

I covered the Athens/Fairland game this year down at the Beasts of the Southeast ... the Bulldogs were up by 20 at one point before winning 69-59 ... BUT ... Fairland was coming off a triple overtime game the night before ... one thing Fairland has inside is SIZE, a couple of their post players look like they could be starting linemen for the Ohio University football team - they are huge. The Vikings will have to find a way (once again) to offset that mismatch in the paint.

Countering a bit is that Athens had a long and curvy trip and Fairland was in their backyard.....coin if flipped a bit.

The size inside could be a problem. I havent had the oportunity to see Fairland play this year, so my question is: do Fairlands bigs understand body positioning and rebounding enough to cause the Vikings any serious problem? Other than that, I see the depth that VC has being the deciding factor.

Game time in less than 24 hours. Excited after Athens comes back to beat Chillicothe tonight!! Lets go Vikings, play the game just like you did last week. Great team defense and offense!!! Looking forward to seeing the Viking Freshmen play in their first tournament game!! This is my favorite time of the year!!!

Skidaddy and anyone else wanting some grub before the game...there's a few of us eating at Buffalo Wild Wings around 5! Stop by and say hello!

I know the dreaded stomach bug has made its way through some of the players this week...hopefully everyone is ready by tomorrow! To the Viking faithful : drag your friends, family, strangers you see on the way...bring the entire county to the Convo! These boys DESERVE your support! Students : I was disappointed with you at the sectional championship game! Get together, get loud, get rowdy! Show the Convo that you bleed maroon!!

Do work tomorrow night boys and show southeast Ohio that the TVC is legit!!

I have seen both these teams play this season and I do not think it will be much of a game. Fairland has the advantage in almost every area. I think their guards are better, they are bigger inside and, not to take anything away from VC's coach, but I would give Fairland the edge there, also. I'm sure VC is a fine team in a league like the TVC, but Fairland will be too much for them. They have played a schedule that has prepared them for the Convo and VC has not. My prediction is Fairland by 15+.

Logan Elm, Piketon, Athens twice, South Webster, Meigs twice, foundation game against Unioto.
All of those teams made it to the Convo, and all were on vinton County's schedule. I think VC has played one of their tougher schedules in recent memory. I'm sure Fairfield Union played a tougher schedule too.

15 points huh? Ill wouldnt be surprised if VC holds Fairland to 15 points in the 1st half!! VC's "D" will not allow Fairland to beat them by 15+.

How many times have you even seen VC play? Listen, I'm not a Fairland fan, I just think they have a good team this year. I am unbiased when it comes to these two teams. However, I KNOW Fairland will win this game based on what I have seen out of these teams this year. Fairland's guards are some of the best in the district. No amount of pressure or trapping will hurt them. Also, VC will have no answer inside. Fairland has some serious size and VC will have no answer. Also, Coach Speed makes adjustments much better than Coach Combs in my opinion. He has a better staff from what I've seen, also. Fairlands coaches would definitely win that race, no pun intended. Bluegrassvike, like I said, I have no dog in this race, I'm just being honest.
