OVC preview updates.

Post by ohbuckeye2 »

End 1st QTR

Rock Hill - 14
South Point - 14

Looks like both Teams need to work on their Defense, South Point is having a hard time stopping Rock Hill's mis direction running game. South Point is running a no huddle hurry up Offense which looks decent. My biggest concern with Rock Hill is depth with only 21 Players, but they held their own in the 1st QTR of play

Playing 12 minute QTR's

Final

Rock Hill - 14
South Point - 14

South Points QB came out of the game with what appears to be a knee injury with 48 seconds left. Pray that it's not serious, good looking QB.

A lot of penalties stalled Drives for both Teams and Rock Hills final Drive ended at about South Points 35.

Portsmouth scores on 2 long plays, #1 just ran a 95 yards for a TD. Chesapeake had drove it to Portsmouths 8 and threw an Interception at the 5.

Final

Portsmouth - 35
Chesapeake - 14

Portsmouth scores on the 1st play

Portsmouth Defense is starting to pick it up.

Portsmouth with a Fumble recovery at Chesapeaks 45,
1st play 35 yard pass complete to Chesapeaks 5
TD pass to #18

9:03 Chesapeake with a 65 yard TD run

5:43 Portsmouth scores with their backup QB on a nice pass and catch

1:14 Chesapeake scores against what appears to be mostly back ups for Portsmouth.

Portsmouths Offense was just to much for Chesapeake. The big question, will Portsmouths Defense hold up against much better Teams that they will face this year.

Do you think it has anything to do with the coaching?

No, I heard it had to do with Big Lots in Ashland.

Fairland - 6

12:00

Ironton 3rd 3 at Fairland 39

6:25 Fairland turn over on downs

1:46 Ironton Cox to Bowling 36 yd TD Pass

Irontons Defense against the Pass looked to be much improved if they can continue that they should do well.

The OVC is in trouble with Ironton and Portsmouth coming in.
They both looked good.
West was impressive. Coal Grove is really talented.

i agree!!!

people was saying CG was a 9-1 or 10-0 team but that game right there they are just a 5-5 to 6-4 team (CG will steam roll the current ovc RH, SP , FAIRLAND, AND PEAKE)

Fairland is and always has been terrible at stopping the run. They must outscore you and their best player besides the quarterback #45 didn't play.

West just took it to Coal Grove. Adjusted and wore them down. West is for real.

South Points QB looked to suffer a possible serious injury to his knee with only about 49 seconds left in the game. He set on the bench well after the game with ice on his knee and then a cart came and took him off.

Coal Groves #70 Austen Pleasants, Ohio University commit set out almost the entire 2nd QTR with ice on his shoulder.

Portsmouth West had a Player leave the field in the 1st QTR with what appeared to be a serious injury to the arm/wrist area.

Irontons starting Lineman Tyler Webb did not play for the Tigers due to a concussion he suffered a little over a week ago in practice.

It's been my experience that CG never looks good in this preview. Last year South Point beat them in the preview and then CG put up almost 50 points in the regular season match-up.
