Southeastern Ohio Preps Basketball League Powerpoll ( B League)

Post by mattash »

ABL B League Preview

1A- Fire

The fire will be tough to handle this year with thier excellent team chemistry and ability to play with each other, as well as their defensive intensity. Veteran athlete Blaine Fuller and 6-5 Sam Cooke are the team leaders and will go as they go. Fuller can get up and down the court and score quickly in transition, while Cooke is as efficient as there is in the low post. Guard Jeremy Blagg can fill it up quick, as well can Aaron Music. Brandon Adkins is one of the top athletes in the entire abl, as is Tres Wilke. Austin Collins gives this team another top defender who can make a jumper as well. Jon Baise rounds out the roster and will provide a little bit of everything.

1B- Jets

The Jets are a veteran group that will be as good offensively as any team in the abl A or B. They start out with long time vet Travis Roark who's a scrappy do everything forward that'll always get you a 20-15 double double, then they have the guard duo of last year co B League MVP's JR Blair and Derrick Jordan. Blair is like Westbrook in the open floor, and just keeps coming at you. Jordan is a vet of abl that can score in bunches, and shoot from the parking lot. Tough man Chris butcher and Bobby Mckinney are also two vets of this team Who provide great intensity and scoring on their man. Travis barker is a rough and rugged big and Newcomer Dustin Smith is said to be lights out from long range. Jake Blair is yet another great guard this team features and will help handle pg duties.

2- Pirates

The Pirates will be led by Gage Rhodes who is able to drop 50 points in the blink of an eye. He is tough to handle for even a double team, and will open up things for other terrific guards Connor and Justin Greene. Michael Marsh and Bradley Marsh are two smart players that will be 3 and D players. Connor Messer is anether great shooter this team features and plays hard on D. Tyrone Allen will have to be big in the paint for this squad as they aren't real big in the first place, but man they will score the ball.

3- Destroyers

This team is led by team captain Justin Gibson and heady Pg Alex Bare, who can distribute, score and play great on ball D. They also feature two beasts down low Cole Boggs and Brent Ransbottom. Boggs is a 20-10 guy everyday and Ransbottom is money from about ten feet. Scott Jones and Brandon Noble are two others that will play smart on offense and intense defense. This team will be legit.

4- Giants

Honestly this teams ranking may be a tad low, as they could easily play A league but a lot of pieces not yet seen and they'll have to mesh. The team starts off with a solid guard trio of Elijah Adams, Kacee bevins, and Levi Brown these three will be able to handle the ball and control pace. Hunter Adams is going to be a double double dude every game and they'll need his inside outside scoring ability, as his counterpart Alex Roy who will play tough D and crash the glass hard. Daniel heaberlin rounds out the roster as a tough guard that can really knock down the 3 ball. Such a solid group that will contend for the title.

5- Strikers

A newly formed team that will feature big man anchor chris claxon. Cameron Thomas is a solid PG that will be flashy at times and can hit a 3. Kyle Justice is going to be versatile and always play with intensity. Matthew Thomas and Blake Dunn are solid athletes that won't back down from any player. Former abl vet Justin Maynard will add shooting and toughness to the mix. Noah Roberts and joe Hale round out the roster and will be vital to the teams depth and energy.

6- Gremlins

This team returns head coaching legend Shane Castle who will always have his team in the mix in the end. Marquis foley will always be a tough cover and can and will take over a game. The team features solid guards with Kyle bush and Octavious Hall and they'll try to control pace and run. 6-9 Dallas Knipp and 6-6 Aaron Thompson form a stout duo down low with length for days. Charlie flowers and Ricky Sartin are two vets that can shoot it and carry out castles gameplan effectivel. Malik massey will play great on ball defense and run run run. Mario and Timmy guns complete a roster that can compete with any team

7- Colonels

This is a travesty to have this team last but the B League is stacked. A trio of guards will lead this team in quick athlete Angel Gurule, heady shooter tevin Mitchell , and Former A league vet Trevor Holbrook. Mike Lamb will score in bunches for this team, as will big man chad Anderson. Tommy birch will provide toughness and great rebounding. Joseph Lloyd and Jon Ball are two other super subs that will be important for this teams depth to withstand the rigorous B league schedule

Week 2 Rankings

1. Fire 1-0- Both teams are coming off of impressive wins, with the destroyers winning in overtime, and the fire absolutely obliterating the Giants. The fire use their length and athleticism to get out and run the break, and lethal defense, especially on opposing guards. The Destroyers could make things happen if they get their inside game working, to complement their outside play. I predict the Fire to continue to roll in this one 81-55, and make their presence known in the A league starting next week.

2. Jets 1-0- This game should be a fun one, as the Jets come in off a solid victory against the huge Gremlins, a game where they just scored at will early on, and pulled away late. They have 3 point shooters, drivers, and guys who can play in the post. The Colonels have a slew of guards, then capable bigs that are strong and physical. The question in this one will be can the Colonels keep the Jets from scoring at will? I say it'll be close, but the Jets pulling away late by a score of 77-67.

3. Pirates 1-0 BYE WEEK

5. Strikers 0-1 BYE WEEK

6. Giants 0-1- Now, on the flip side here we have two teams that took L's in week 1, but also have very impressive rosters. The Giants were pounded in week 1, but should have their entire roster for this week, and they better because the Gremlins compete their tails off. Last week, they ran into a very good offensive group in the Jets, but never backed down, and made it competitive in the end. The Gremlins are the biggest team in the B division, and also have youth and athleticism. I predict the Gremlins and Shane Castle to pick up the narrow victory, 73-70.

7. Gremlins 0-1- Now, on the flip side here we have two teams that took L's in week 1, but also have very impressive rosters.
