Season has officially started. Scrimmage games the next few weeks, any notable matches dates/times?

Sadly, heard that Clay has a few kids out for the season/half of season??. Really thought they could give South Webster a hard time this year but thats not going to happen now.

Did Clay lose players due to injury? That's tough break this early.

I believe one was for grades and possibly others but I'm not sure.

One player was for grades, the other transferred out of Clay at the end of last year and then re-enrolled (out 8 games).

Clay lost to Burg 1-0 and beat St. Joe 1-0 on Saturday.

Waverly preseason info? They return a lot of talent from last year. I thought they held possession better then anyone in the SOC last year. Will be interesting to see how they build on that.

South Webster is scrimmaging northwest Tuesday and Wheelersburg Friday at previews. Good contests for them leading into the season.

Waverly has their first and only scrimmage tonight at Zane Trace, so we should get to see more of what they will look like. They really haven't had the whole team together for any of their other scrimmages (Wilmington, Zane Trace hilltop, etc) due to injury or vacations and had to use some 8th graders to fill in. They did well at the Rio Grande camp. They have 8 seniors, but only 2 juniors and 3 sophomores to go along with 9 freshmen. They lost a good sophomore who transferred to Unioto. Depth may be an issue if there are many injuries, but they should be a decent squad.

Waverly girls will be much improved with a strong freshman class to work with the upperclassmen who are now in their 3rd year of play.

There have not been any scrimmages in August.

Waverly vs ZT Scrimmage was a great game!
ZT scored first, then Waverly answered back with 4 straight before half. 2nd half ZT scored 3 in the first 15 minutes to tie it up. Final was 4-4. Good test for both programs to learn from heading into season openers. ZT plays at MAPFRE Stadium Saturday. While Waverly opens at home vs Circleville on Tuesday. Both teams should have successful seasons in their league play.
Waverly only had 8th graders playing at Wilmington Quaker Cup (July 8) and the two ZT hill top scrimmages (July 15&22). Kudos to them for bringing up young talent during summer activities, where as some teams will bring back graduated alums, to each their own I guess.
Hickman transferred to Unioto from Waverly after his freshman season. Will have to sit half the season but will be a great pick up for the Tanks.
