TVC Hocking will be NO MORE sooner than later.....
Wahama leaving,Miller leaving,South Gallia with 14 players,FH with 18....hmmm....Trimble grades 5-9 have very low numbers...something is gonna have to give. This is reality folks....change is coming to football as we know it you can count on it
Re: TVC Hocking will be NO MORE sooner than later.....
Fort Frye needs a conference. If they were invited, that would leave Waterford, who left The PVC to get away from harder competition, suddenly staring up at two of the premiere programs in the state.

South Gallia with only 14?

Yes....Trimble was up 35-0 end of first quarter and SG was down to 12 active players after a couple were injured....game was then shortened in coaches agreement...hate it for the SG kids especially the Seniors....a trend(numbers wise ) that is going to continue....time will tell

I think a good start would be Trimble, N-Y and Fort Frye. Add in Wellston, Alex, Crooksville & maybe Belpre if they would come.
Another option (I know I’m beating a dead horse) would be to bring in Logan, Jackson, Marietta, Warren and Fort Frye and re-align the league into 3 divisions based on size.
As far as numbers go, I think N-Y is the only local team that has large numbers. Even Athens looks down this year. Looked like maybe 35 kids last night agains Alexander.

Maybe moving Trimble up will improve everyone's numbers.
More competitive league battles and less injury. Trimble took out nearly 20 percent of SG team

Re: TVC Hocking will be NO MORE sooner than later.....
Good point but fair to Trimble kids? There youth numbers are low of kids that play along with school class sizes as a whole so ....they vary at each school but Trimble is obviously always on a smaller scale.Trimble would compete top to bottom most every year with Athens maybe being the exception. And of course the participation numbers are down too for the other schools as well. Can you imagine 8- man football in the future with a different set of rules than what we have known...sure hope not but..........

SG has numbers in the youth program and I believe starting a flag program will help greatly with numbers. Getting more kids to start playing means more to keep playing.

The political arena and liberal media is killing football, scaring parents into pushing them to the 2 fastest growing sports in the nation, basketball and soccer. Football in our area in 10 years will be a memory in most small schools. You can try and convince yourself that it is not a dying sport but it is! Another thing is populations are and have been declining for a decade in our area, if it continues many schools will merge or be forced to redraw districts.

Re: TVC Hocking will be NO MORE sooner than later.....
The fastest growing sport in the country is a sport no school in southeastern Ohio plays yet —— lacrosse.
Soccer is the other big one. Only some schools field a soccer team in southeastern Ohio.
Any contact sport will have the dangers of concussions. That is real.
The biggest problem is shrinking populations in southeastern Ohio. Another problem is more entertainment options. There was a time when there was little else to do but play sports as a kid. Not so today.
Also, there are many parents with drug addictions today. An addict isn’t necessarily going to be there for their kids to make sure they are involved in things and staying out of trouble.
All of these things add up over time.

Re: TVC Hocking will be NO MORE sooner than later.....
Bevo-there is a lot of truth in what you are saying. It is going to be hard for most small schools to maintain a football program. Sadly the sport I love is starting to die!
Re: TVC Hocking will be NO MORE sooner than later.....
Regretfully all small school sports are declining.Girls sports you have to beg kids to play.Going to be all Club sports in the very near future.Too much demand from coaches in off season to play one sport year round.
Re: TVC Hocking will be NO MORE sooner than later.....
Below will be the TVC in a few short years. The ball has been rolling on this for a while and is gaining steam as we speak. The listed schools have just been waiting to see if any other schools followed Wahama's suit. So, as soon as Miller announced their impending exodus the phones started ringing again among these schools:
Alexander
Belpre
Federal-Hocking
Meigs
Nelsonville-York
Vinton County
Trimble
Wellston
If Federal-Hocking declines an invite the group will pursue Fort Frye and then Oak Hill if FF declines. If you're looking for a reason I'll offer this: the schools listed from the Ohio Division don't want to continue to lose league titles to Athens in pretty much everything but football; and all the schools listed are growing weary of common sense decisions being blocked by the schools not listed.

I have been hearing rumors about this for a while now. I agree that the schools in the Ohio Division deserve a chance to win a league championship in something other than football and wrestling. I'm all for this.Binary wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 12:58 pm Below will be the TVC in a few short years. The ball has been rolling on this for a while and is gaining steam as we speak.
