Three RedStorm hoopsters named to All-AMC team
Cedarville---Three members of the University of Rio Grande RedStorm men’s basketball team were named to the All-American Mideast Conference teams.
Senior forward Brandon Ivery (Columbus, OH) was named 1st All-AMC while fellow senior Brett Beucler (Sardinia, OH) and junior guard P. J. Rase (Wheelersburg, OH) were selected honorable mention.
Ivery, a 6-8 power forward, closed out his collegiate career with a tremendous season. He led the RedStorm in scoring (17.3 ppg.), rebounding (9.2) and blocked shots (25). Ivery was second on the team in assists (3.3 apg.) and field goal percentage (.565) and third in steals (1.1). Ivery was 2nd Team All-AMC South Division in each of the last two seasons.
Beucler, a 6-2 guard/small forward, also closed out his time at Rio Grande with a very strong campaign. He was second on team in scoring, behind Ivery (13.6 ppg.), tied for second in rebounding (4.2 rpg.) was third in assists (1.9 apg.) and was second on team in three-point shooting percentage (.396).
Rase, a 6-1 shooting guard, could at times, take over a game with his long range bombing. He was third in scoring (11.7 ppg.) and was the top three-point shooter (.427) and free throw shooter (.881) on the team.
“It’s a great honor for Brandon, Brett and P.J to be recognized by the conference,†said Rio Grande head coach Ken French said. Obviously, if we would have had more team success we may have had a couple more people on maybe second team or honorable mention.â€
“For Brett and Brandon, it’s a great way to cap off their senior season and for P.J. it’s a great honor for him, being a junior and making honorable mention,†French added. “He made great strides this year and expanded his game and contributed to a lot of the success that we had.â€
“All three of these young men were integral parts of a 20-win and making post-season play,†French said. “We’re very, very proud and it is a great honor for Brandon, Brett and P.J. and I wish the two seniors nothing but the best and hopefully this is something that P.J. will be able have him springboard into a great senior season.â€
Rio Grande finished the season 20-11 and made the American Mideast Conference Tournament for the first time in five seasons, losing the opening round.

Not too good.....They lose 4 starters and a lot of experience and height.
Hoping for some good recruits...
