Re: Illinois @ Cincinnati
UC 49-36.
They gave up 36 points to the 11th ranked offense in the Big 10.
In Big Ten games, Illinois scored 0, 17, 14, 14, 14, 38, 35, and 16. That's 18.5 points per game.
In Big Ten games, OSU and their supposedly bad offense scored 30, 33, 31, 18, 38, 24, 27, and 21. That's 27.75 points per game.
36 points. Wow.
Essentially, UC would likely need 40+ to beat OSU. LOL LOL.

Re: Illinois @ Cincinnati
Also no one scored more than 27 points against Ohio State and only 3 teams scored more than 20 points and the ave was about 12 points per game allowed.

Re: Illinois @ Cincinnati
Cincy showed the major vulnerability that will get them in trouble against Pitt, the bowl opponent, and
the fictional Buckeye game that Cincy fans want to play.
They can't stop anybody!!!
If one of those teams can slow them down enough to keep them to 20-24 points, then they are going to lose.
They have a great offense, but a crap defense.
They play a team with Ball control offense, and a great defense, then count on a loss for the Bearcats.

I agree. Espn writers are hyping this up about Cincy beating a big ten school but it's Illinois. They are 3-8 and only lost by 13. Penn st, OSU or Iowa and maybe some others would beat UC. If Illinois didn' give up a couple of big plays then they could have won. UC has a good offense but absolutley no defense. It will catch up to them when they play a school with both.
Re: Illinois @ Cincinnati
What is it with some of these teams like Boisie State and Cincinnati that were fugly arena-looking jerseys and only like to play offense? I'm beginning to notice a pattern.

Offense brings the ESPN hype machine, drooling at your door.
Offense pays the bills, defense wins the titles.

Have you watched Boise State...they play defense....just ask Oklahoma, Oregon, and all the other big time schools that want to avoid them.

.... but they did give up the big plays... and they LOST!
that is uc... quick scores with their big play offense
say waht you want about psu, osu, iowa and maybe others beating uc. maybe they would, maybe not.
northwestern, big 10 4th place team lost to syracuse, big east bottom feeder earlier in the season.
Re: Illinois @ Cincinnati
Cincy may have the best record but they are far from the best team............Please.......tOSU blanks Ill. 30 - 0....and cincy gives up 36........cincy would be 5th or 6th in Big Ten this year..............

Re: Illinois @ Cincinnati
No, Cincy would be a solid #3 this season in the Big Ten, and possibly push for a title.
They have a very dynamic offense, and would beat most Big 10 schools, the only ones they'd have issues with
this year would have been OSU, Iowa, PSU, and Wisconsin.
Those issues, meaning margins of victory of less than double digits.
Probably a 2 loss in conference team, which puts them in the mix for #2, 3, or 4.

Re: Illinois @ Cincinnati
Will the Bearcats be able to keep Kelly or will he head to Notre Dame?
I just know one thing-it looks like Ohio will have two teams in the BCS!
I hope Kelly stays in Cin and keeps building the program. The area is a hotbed of high school football and Ohio State has historically not recruited well there.
