Impact players in the 2024-25 season ... Who do you have?
Who do you feel will be the "newcomers" - transfers, freshmen, or last year's JV talents - who you feel will make a positive impact on their teams,SEO hoops in the 2024-25 season/post season ?
I'll get us rolling, I'm going with Carson Davis, 6-8 jr for Meigs HS ... not many "move-ins" TO Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line are 1) BIGS of the 6-8 variety 2) true basketballlers 3) proven quality players ... Carson is THAT guy - he played in the Mid State League at Bloom Carroll, was successful in leading BC to an excellent regular and post season in 2023-24 ... his addition to ANY team in SEO would make THAT team a contender in any of the SEO leagues & post season ... CD happens to be going to Meigs who was going to be EXTREMELY talented even if CD never transferred to MHS , bottomline is he DID ... 6-8 size, inside AND OUTSIDE scorer of the ball ... only a junior ... oh and by the way, Carson brings with him to Meigs , Coach Ryan Davis - the dad , Coach Davis previously coached successfully at Chesapeake before going to BC , Coach Davis WAS/IS one of the best coaches in SEO, & Ohio - impact x 2 for the Davis's on SEO hoops ... Meigs returns Cayden Gheen/Owen Tracy/Landon Dewees/Gunner Cleland/Reed Brinegar/Dustin Vance/Aaron Tobin - as a group : size, strength in the paint, ability to get to the rim, outstanding perimeter scoring, speed/quicks at all positions, length - they pass the eye-test ... Carson Davis moves this group into one of the top 3 positions in SEO no matter the division imo ...
... I've got others! but Carson Davis to Meigs - major impact on the landscape of SEO basketball as Meigs is now potentially the #1 team in SEO no matter the division ...

Re: Impact players in the 2024-25 season ... Who do you have?
... Who are the other "impact" players for the 2024-25 season iyo ? I would really like to hear about the newcomers - the JV guys from last season who will make a difference at the varsity level for their respective schools... as usual graduation leaves holes in the starting lineups that teams will need to fill or the benches get shorter due to graduation - who are the guys who will take over those rolls either as starters or coming off the bench ... who are the names we should be looking for this season ?
Re: Impact players in the 2024-25 season ... Who do you have?
Maddox Kazee from The Peake should be a top player in the OVC. Along with Phillps, Thacker, Kerns, Skeens, Barker and Plantz and a couple transfers Peake could be on top of the OVC again this year.
Re: Impact players in the 2024-25 season ... Who do you have?
... Kazee was special LAST year, looking forward to seeing him this year!!! good call on the name drop peake71 ... Who are the transfers for Chesapeake this coming season? Names and schools they came from would be great, if you have their grade in school, size etc. I KNOW! I'm asking too much right LOL ... it sounds like the Peake will have a good long bench this season ...
... peake71, Jake Skeens returns as the sr BIG MAN for the Panthers this coming season ... I was going through my notes from last season, coming up with a list for the "Big Men" in SEO for 2024-25 ... Skeens at 6-6 or more now, how did he look this past summer? 6-6 size in SEO is BIG - is he a game changer for this coming season at both ends of the floor? Kazee and Thacker were both in the 6-2 range last season - both youngsters last season as soph/freshman respectively - both should have another growth spurt - we talking 6-3 or 6-4 + for the coming season???

Skeens looked good this summer rebounding and passing. One transfer is from West Virginia a Christian school don't know his name. He is about 6 ft and will help defensively. The other is Frecka from Coal Grove about 6'2 - 6'3". Settling in with the others and with help defensively and rebounding but could give you some points also. Thacker not playing football to work on basketball. Peake looked good this summer but as we say it is summer ball.
Re: Impact players in the 2024-25 season ... Who do you have?
... I had the Peake penciled in my Preseason top 15 BEFORE I knew about the Frecka transfer ... getting another solid, 6-3, role player that gives CHS more depth, longer bench "ain't" going to hurt their OVC/SEO rankings in the preseason ... as trojandave has pointed out on the Portsmouth threads - Chesapeake is the odds on favorite to take the OVC this season ...peake71 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 4:19 pm Skeens looked good this summer rebounding and passing. peake71 ... Who has been running the PG position over the summer for Coach Ater's Panthers ?
Re: Impact players in the 2024-25 season ... Who do you have?
Not a transfer or a move in BUT, I like 6-6 Cade Mock for Coach Harrison down in the French City at Gallia Academy ... Cade Mock has been a work in progress for the last 2 years ... the big man down low for GAHS has always reminded me of graduated post man for Warren 6-7 Trent Taylor ... CM might be a little more athletic but I see CM having a breakout type of year - with his height, length he should be a focal point for opponents to HAVE TO shutdown in the paint ...
Re: Impact players in the 2024-25 season ... Who do you have?
Kaden Phillips and Kazee both did there share but Kerns, Thacker and Plantz will help out alot.

Saw Peake went 2-2 at Midwest Live at Cedar Point a few weeks ago. Beat Dayton Chaminade-Julienne and Lima Shawnee, and lost to Fremont Ross and Tallmadge. Should be a top D5 team this year, and Ater will always have them rebounding and playing tough defense.
South Webster went 3-1; Minford 0-4; and Burg 0-4 at the same event. Real tough competition that made all these SE Ohio teams better.*

Coach Howland, Hillsboro, picked up a couple of transfers in 6-5 Xander Lake from East Clinton & Jayceon Kibler 6-0 SG from Wilmington ...BOTH will make an impact for the 'boro ... 6-5 Lake is a solid big man, smooth of foot, soft hands, gets boards at both ends, can give you 10 ppg , Kibler is a sharpshooting SG who should fit in nicely with one of the best guard duos in SEO - Tate Davis ( the FAC Player of the Year last season) along with Jack Howland (made the ALL FAC team as a freshman last season) ... the 'boro is a top 10 team in SEO in the preseason ...
Re: Impact players in the 2024-25 season ... Who do you have?
art_vandelay, do you know if Drew Haggy played with the Minford big 3 at this event ? 0-4? I really liked the sophomores (now juniors) at Wheelersburg last season - Rucker/Bivens/Evans/McGraw ... Logan Adkins (6-2) was part of that class - now transferred to PHS ... Lattimore WAS a big, big, big reason for the Burg success last season - going to have some adjustment to the roles without Lattimore this season ...art_vandelay wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 11:42 pm Saw Peake went 2-2 at Midwest Live at Cedar Point a few weeks ago. I’m looking for Bryson McClintic (SW Junior) to add some buckets for the jeeps this year. Great shooter and can get to the basket on the drive at will. He can run point too
Re: Impact players in the 2024-25 season ... Who do you have?
... I like Hunter Barnard to be a big contributor for SW as well ... the Jeeps will need players to step-up fill the void created by the graduation of Tyler Sommer - not just ppg but rbs as well - will we see Roberts HAVE TO be more in the paint "for the betterment of team" this season? losing Sommer & Timothy on the boards is a BIG void to fill - we'll see ...The Ghost of Swanker wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 11:45 am I’m looking for Bryson McClintic (SW Junior) to add some buckets for the jeeps this year. Connie Thomas, Dayquan Woods, and Logan Adkins all will have a huge impact on Portsmouth's season. Sure fire starters who will make the Trojans a much more well rounded team compared to last season when PHS relied heavily on DeAndre Berry to carry them.
The HS Trojans made the finals of the Bannon Park Classic vs. a team of former outstanding adult Trojans. Making it to the finals of the BPC is no small feat, given how intense the competition is.

There's an incoming freshman at Ironton who's going to wow fans this season. Don't know his name, but I believe he's related to Zac Carter's family. Maybe someone from Ironton can help me with his name, but this kid is going to be special. Not tall, plays guard, but he's got the whole package of skills. Saw him play vs. Portsmouth's JH team last season and I was super impressed with him. The kid is lightning quick.

Probably right about this one pfloyd. He put up some big numbers this summer in the games I watched. Points weren't just coming in the paint either, mid-range and 3 ball were there as well. If he stays out of foul trouble, he will be a handful to stop.pfloyd wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 6:18 pm Not a transfer or a move in BUT, I like 6-6 Cade Mock for Coach Harrison down in the French City at Gallia Academy ... Definitely going to be Hunters year to shine. He had a great post season and end of season run (Burg homecoming spoiler). South Webster will be loaded with upperclassman.pfloyd wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 12:13 pm... Roberts Sr
White Sr
Mault Sr
Shupert Sr
Barnard Jr
McClintic Jr
Stephens Jr
Possibles
Johnson Jr
Burton Jr
Little Barnard (Fr) - take notes on this kid in the JV season. He’s electric and will not be out hustled by anyone
Would be great to see Carson Coriell come out one more time. That cat can ball
Re: Impact players in the 2024-25 season ... Who do you have?
... I was going to post this group of players for PHS BUT I wanted a THE trojandave slant as YOU are definitely the man when talking all things from Trojan Land ... thanks, not sure a DeAndre Berry can be replaced BUT sometimes when that player who IS counted on so heavily graduates what remains is an even better TEAM where the role players get to show their entire repertoire of skills ...trojandave wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 12:45 pm Connie Thomas, Dayquan Woods, and Logan Adkins all will have a huge impact on Portsmouth's season. Bleacher92, who will be taking on the PG duties this coming season for Coach Harrison? When I talked to Coach in the post season in February, he talked about a very good PG coming up through the ranks - I believe this season to be his freshmen year for GAHS ... I might have posted this question back in the late spring before the June season started-I thought someone posted that THIS pg I'm thinking about might have transferred? can you clear this up for us - thanks ...Bleacher92 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 1:05 pmProbably right about this one pfloyd. ... Your info on Cade Mock adding the perimeter game to his skill set - I really like the mid-range option for CM , I can see Cade getting an entry pass as he curls at the elbow and being a threat to score OR get to the rim off the dribble ... I'm high on this young man, as I posted he reminds me of Trent Taylor (Warren graduate) ... you're right - with his size/skill set he HAS TO BE ON FLOOR - stay out of foul trouble ... 6-7 on the bench "ain't" helping TEAM ...

Re: Impact players in the 2024-25 season ... Who do you have?
It looks like the freshman (Ty Reed) will be the pg. Another strong option is to have Beckett Camden run the point and allow Ty to run the 2. Either way, he did not transfer and has shown some flashes of being a solid player. Likewise, he’s had some moments where he looked like a freshman learning the speed and strength of varsity. He definitely has a lot of upside. It will be interesting to see how he develops.pfloyd wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 2:14 pmBleacher92, who will be taking on the PG duties this coming season for Coach Harrison?
