Week 5: Warren vs. Paintsville
Week 5: Warren vs. Paintsville
Not expecting much traffic on this one given the fact that the opponent is a total unknown. All I know is they are 1-3, but have been in the small school state title game in Kentucky within the last 5 years.
Warren is starting to figure out an identity defensively with some new personnel and are on a 3 game win streak. Pepper and Carr are living up to their billing. I think the momentum keeps rolling into a huge game with Athens in Week 6.

Re: Week 5: Warren vs. Paintsville
Something no one has talked about is the fact that Warren has played each of their first four games without their best offensive lineman. Hoping to get Owen Bookman (6’6” 300) back this week in some capacity. Run game has been pretty good so far, but he is a difference maker in that area. Has visits scheduled with App State and Miami (OH).
As for the game, Warren’s play style should wear on Paintsville. We’ll see if they want to trade punches for 4 quarters. Paintsville wants to play in space and that’s where Warren’s defense is at their best.
Landon Summers played for the first time this season last week after moving from ILB to nose, and he was extremely disruptive. If the LBs get good DLine play, they’re a fun group to watch. Owen Thompson is on pace for 150+ tackles.

Haven't been able to find much out about then nor any film.

I believe there’s some on Maxpreps. QB is a good runner/athlete. Not super impressive up front. They aren’t overly physical, which favors Warren. If we play well and execute, it should be a multiple score game. If not, they could hang around longer than they should. They have one heck of a bus ride Friday, though.

Interesting fact about Paintsville. It's the alma mater of country singers Crystal Gayle, and Tyler Childers.

Childers is the man. You could throw a dart in eastern Kentucky and have a good chance of hitting a country legend’s hometown.Bucknuts88 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 10:29 am Interesting fact about Paintsville. It's the alma mater of country singers Crystal Gayle, and Tyler Childers.

Stapleton, Sturgil, Patty Loveless, Carly Pearce, Dwight Yoakam, and Loretta Lynn all nearby as well.
Having said that, Warriors by 2 tuddies!

Warren - 49
Paintsville - 0
Halftime
Warren opened the opening kick for a TD and the bloodbath began. Doing whatever they want on offense and defense.

Paintsville has had some decent teams. They are down in the coalfields around Pikeville and a few other really good teams.

Won state in 2020. Produced Kash Daniel, who was a good LB at UK and a stud hs player. Their QB didn’t play tonight for some reason but I’m not sure it would’ve mattered if he did.portsmouth_98 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2024 8:39 pm Paintsville has had some decent teams. Final:
Warren - 56
Paintsville - 0
Not much to say about this game really. Warren dominated every facet of the game from the opening kick to the last play. Not sure how many TDs Sealey threw for, but it was a lot. Defense looked fast and very, very physical. Biggest game of the year so far on deck @ Athens next Friday. Should be a great game.
