We will never know. I'll go out on a limb and say no.
Re: Is Fairland better than Wheelersburg this season?
Correct. Fairland was also better than Burg last year based on record.
But when playoffs began, the better record meant nothing. Fairland lost 50-38 in the first round. Burg beat Portsmouth 34-0 in round two.

Do the Trojans beat Fairland next week?RBH23 wrote: Tue Sep 24, 2024 12:30 pmCorrect. Fairland was also better than Burg last year based on record.

No idea with those two teams. Last year, Fairland wins game 1 only to turn around and lose the rematch.Jawnjkang98 wrote: Tue Sep 24, 2024 12:33 pmDo the Trojans beat Fairland next week?RBH23 wrote: Tue Sep 24, 2024 12:30 pmCorrect. Fairland was also better than Burg last year based on record.

I’ll let you know if/when they play in the playoffs, comparing 2 teams that don’t play is a pointless topic but given the source not surprising.
Re: Is Fairland better than Wheelersburg this season?
I think they definitely compete with wheelersburg this season and possibly win. They competed in the regular season and playoffs 8-9 years ago and fairland did well and held their own. That’s when the burg was much better. Fairland usually has a good football program. Not saying at burg or ironton level, but a good program. They’ve competed well with Ironton teams in the past going back to the 93 team that faced Jermon and the tigers along the last few years as well. I think it would be a good game with the burg. Fairland has an all around good sports program. I’d go burg -5 on a neutral field. I may be dead wrong too. Just my thoughts.

Will Fairland be competitive with Ironton?
Ironton is so good this year they are making good teams look pedestrian. Don't believe all the anti Burg hype.
This is my opinion.
Ironton has arguably the best team they've fielded in decades. The Burg has probably the weakest overall team they've fielded in decades.
Even a weakened Burg team is better than the vast majority of local teams.

With the burgs record they will probably be in the lower top 16 for playoffs they could play fairland in first round

Would probably be closer game than most years, but I’d still take Burg.
While Burg may not be able to beat Ironton or HP, their demise may have been greatly exaggerated on here when matched up against rest of SE Ohio teams.*

If there was ever a year that Fairland could beat Burg it would be this year. Fairland is loaded with talented seniors. That matters a lot of these dudes have played 3-4 years of Friday nights.
I really think the skill on this Fairland defense would have them in the game. They are so athletic on defense and they can apply pressure on all three levels. They tackle as well as any team you will see.
This is a very skilled physical Fairland team I think they would be able to beat Burg. The only team who is better than this Fairland team is Ironton.

Would maybe be a decent game. I will say Fairland has a pretty explosive offense, but we don’t know how good their defense really is. They’ve played a cake schedule full of bad teams or one dimensional teams. My guess is they probably go 9-1 assuming they beat Portsmouth by throwing the ball, lose to Ironton. Second round playoff matchup could be where we see just how good they are.

In a playoff game I’d take Burg by 2 scores. Regular season though? If it’s not at Burg then I’d take Fairland in a close one.

I don’t think Ironton has anything to do with this thread. But somehow they always get brought up.FIDO wrote: Thu Sep 26, 2024 7:52 am Will Fairland be competitive with Ironton?
