Boys Jr. High Basketball 2024-25 Season

Post by Crazykid33 »

Monday is the official start of boys Jr. High basketball, and I am excited to see what teams and players are going to have a good year this year.
Teams too look out for...
Portsmouth
Wheelersburg
South Webster
West Portsmouth
Minford
All these teams have good players, coaches, and are going to be good teams to watch this year to see the upcoming players. if anyone has scores or stats report them here and they will be recorded throughout the season. Good luck to all the teams this season!

Was able to make it out to the Jr High South Webster Jeeps game in tonight. Saw a very solid performance by both teams, 7th and 8th. They played Eastern tonight which wasn’t the best team but they will see better competition as the season comes along. I was really impressed with the 8th grade jeeps scoring tonight, Large and Whisman had 16 a piece with Kreicsher scoring 9 and Mershon with 6 off of 2 threes. I believe Rollins had 2 points off a layup but those are the people that scored. Allard did not score tonight, I still think he played pretty good and rebounded really well.

JJMD: Valley's 7th grade class looked pretty solid in football, so I gotta think their basketball will be good as well. Who are the other 7th grade teams in the area to watch for, if you know?*

The Jeeps played really well last night and worked hard. The Jeeps ended up winning 49-14 against Eastern. Whisman and Large both played really well last night, Whisman and Mershon shot lights out, and the whole team played really well. It is going to be exciting to watch the young Jeeps this season.

I would agree with what Crazykid33 is saying about the other teams to watch for 7th graders. 8th grade, from what I saw last year, was between Burg and South Webster as being very balanced with tons of room to grow as a team. There are some individual players on other teams but in terms of solid teams, those are the 2 that impressed me the most in the SOC.

Now for Portsmouth's 8th grade, I think Coach Smith at PHS is going to have some fun with those young guns. They have some real nice players that have tons of talent, high basketball IQ's and potential. If they keep working the way they have up to this point, PHS will be making noise around as well.

100 percent Portsmouth is going to make a lot of noise in the OVC in the future and they have some very impressive young talent.

The South Webster Jeeps matched up against Northwest tonight. The 7th grade won 33-14 with Bennett scoring 12. 8th grade won 58-27. Large scored 22, Kreischer scored 12, Whisman 10. The Jeeps played really well tonight. The Jeeps match up against Portsmouth Monday and it will be their biggest test. I am excited for this game and I hope to see the Jeeps play really well Monday.

Wheelersburg 8th grade picked up a win tonight against an alright North Adam's team winning by 30+. I am excited to see how Burg performs this season. I think they are going to play really good and it will be a good game to watch when they match up against Webster and some other good teams in our area.

Peebles vs Eastern Brown today. Peebles won both games. These are very good teams, both 7th and 8th. On 8th grade Peebles has a very good big ma n in Keegan Puckett and Eastern has perhaps the best shooter I've ever seen in JR high. #5.Florence,Can't remember his name. Eastern is deep on both squads and Peebles has few players on both squads. This should be a great rivalry for years to come.

Final score of the Jeeps game tonight Jeeps 33-37 Portsmouth. The Jeeps played hard and played really impressive. If the Jeeps can play like they did tonight all season they are going to have a good season. Large played good with 17 points, Kreischer 10, and Whisman 6.

7th grade won 43-2. Great game overall. Persin, Bennet, Keslar, and Purcell all played great on both ends. Exited to see these kids grow and improve.

7th grade played good, but it wasn't a great test for the 7th grade Jeeps. Their biggest test will be when they play Minford and Valley. I can't wait to see how they match up with those teams.

Tomorrow the Portsmouth Trojans take on the Wheelersburg Pirates this will be a great test for both these teams, but I expect Portsmouth to win by 10+. Portsmouth's Green and Monroe I think will do really well and I expect them to have a great game. However Hollar from Burg will be a big problem for the Trojans if his shots fall. Any thoughts on this game?
