District Final: Meigs vs. New Lexington @ The Convo

This will be a tough matchup for Meigs (22-1) vs 14-10 New Lexington ... Meigs has the size advantage - 6-8 Carson Davis, 6-5 Reed Brinager, 6-5 Dustin Vance, 6-4 Cayden Gheen, 6-6 Aaron Tobin, , 6-2 Landen Dewees, 6-0 soph. Owen Tracy ... New Lex has played THE toughest schedule imo of anyone in the SE District - beat a regular season 18-3 Steubenville team ... losses were to 20-3 Maysville twice, Tri Valley 18-4, Bishop Watterson 16-7, Columbus Academy 22-0, John Glenn 18-4, Coshocton 18-4 twice ... NL has seen size, quickness, TEAMS that are deep off the bench, teams with next level talent , next level talent players in almost every game this past regular season ... I had in my little mind New Lex as my pre-season #2 due to all of the talent/roster returning from the district run team of last season - they lost 1 player off that roster ... New Lex comes into the game a full team of players that bring what I would think Meigs has nightmares about - quick, pressure on the perimeter defensive guys - all of them - Ratliff/ Isaiah Stephens/Stenson/Hanson/ Adam /Stephens the Younger... when Meigs is able to handle the on ball pressure, keep the ball in Owens hands to run the show - I think they are fine - everyone can play their roles, be the bigs getting the ball on the floor where they can be most affective offensively ... IF opposing teams can get the ball out of Owens hands, make the bigs put it on the floor, having to work to "get to their spots" - Meigs will struggle ... Meigs has been working on all of these issue throughout the season - this game will tell us just have much the MHS team has improved handling pressure - a Meigs win will tell ME that Coach Davis has done an outstanding job in teaching the game to the talented/athletic Meigs players ... Meigs will have the advantage of size and strength inside obviously ... Can they get the ball to their strength in the paint will be the question ... no predictions, it's the post season ANYTHING can happen and usually does ... nothing but the best for both teams in this one for a great high school matchup ...
